Complete scam

They will steal your information . They will not refund your money. Stealing money from the jobless is an all time low. I don't know how they sleep at night.

Signed up for 14 day trial in May 2020. Used service to create resume and exported it. Needed to be fixed because it was in an awful format. Fixed it manually. Canceled the membership 2 days later. Was charged every month till September even after canceling 4 more times.

  • Apr 29, 2020

I signed up for a 14-day trial and was not aware that after that time I would be automatically subscribed to their service. Through my busyness, I missed the payments coming out of my account. They have been charging me for 14 months so far. When I called and spoke to a manager he told me that there was nothing he could do even for the payment that just posted on 4/30/20 at 12 am.

I am currently writing this on 4/30/20 at 7:38 pm. He also stated that it was clearly in the fine print which it probably is, hidden. The gentleman (if you'd actually call him that) reassured me that any negative reports I leave will be responded to because they have the resources now to do so. Bring it on bud. Your company sucks and you have a well-paved path of screwing people.

get ur money

Tell them that you wont quit bothering them until you get your money back! I did and it worked. But I would be nice to the rep, I am sure their job sucks

SCAM! Stay away!

This website kept charging me $39.95 per month for a whole year. Which is $479.4 in total for something I don't even know about. I have never used their services or even been to their website during the subscription period.

I contact them and have been told they refuse to provide any refund.

During the whole year, I have never received any email from this company, neither at the beginning of the trial subscription nor each monthly auto-renew. Just imagine any other company, I can receive so many email within a day. However, none from this company during a whole year. It seems like they did it on purpose, because they are counting on this to make money.

If you don't wanna lose your money, never go to this website!

I signed up for a 14 days free trial to see if this company could be useful to give me information on how I could write my resume etc, just using the free services they offered. I meant to remind myself to unregister but as usual I forgot, which is what they rely on to make money for this business model. An honest company interested in providing a real service to customers will remain in contact via email, for example my mobile phone company always texts me and emails me when a bill is due, Amazon, Netflix etc. This company does not remind you that you have subscribed at all after the first signup.

In comparison Netflix has just emailed me to tell me my free trial is up in 3 days. This is honest upfront business.

Resume Genius does not. On top of that it signed me up for another month of services I have not used since I signed up and as my bank queried the charge it reminded me. However, even though I contacted Resume Genius within the space of 24 hours of the same day they charged me they replied that as my payment had been charged they were unable to refund the charge now that I had registered on my account on their website to cancel.

I wonder if this is in breach of buyer cooling off period for purchase? Is there such legislation in the US. I am imagining many many people are being caught out by this automatic billing. The only way to avoid it is that you need to set reminders religiously for yourself, but many people are not that technically or legally savvy even I who am technically capable failed to do this.

There should be protection for consumers especially vulnerable consumers against this kind of automatic signup, as ever who reads the small print ever, who has time, this company is using humans natural habits against them, surprise surprise.

Beware of being hooked into an automatically renewing subscription by ResumeGenius. They will not warn you, I am.

ResumeGenius will automatically charge your credit card or bank account, and once done WILL NOT refund you the money even if you cancel the subscription.

I wanted to update my resume and get help with polishing it up. I found ResumeGenius and signed up for ONE YEAR which cost me $95.40. Little did I suspect they would charge the same again on the anniversary date of my original signup. They sent no warning and as far as I'm concerned made an unauthorized charge to my credit card.

As soon as I saw this credit card charge I called and cancelled the service. I got an email telling me the service was cancelled as of the renewal date in one year. I thought, "What?" I emailed them back asking for the cancellation to take place immediately and to refund my money.

I kept getting the same response in different words. "You signed up for automatic renewal of your service and had a whole year to cancel it before the automatic renewal." And/or "We don't give refunds."

I have the original emails ResumeGenius sent me when I signed up. Nowhere on either of them does it say anything about automatic renewals or their cancellation policy. In my opinion they have purposely hidden this policy so it is hard to find and most of their customers will be unaware of it.

This company is not trustworthy and I would never recommend for anyone to use them. Their services are mediocre at best. They abuse their customers and are thouroughly unethical.

Used this company's form for a resume and paid them $1.95. After a 14 day trial there would be a $39.95 charge for the full month or subsequent months. I immediately cancelled or thought I did. When checking my credit card bill, I found a charge for $39.95 exactly 14 days after I paid the $1.95.

I did a "live chat" with a customer rep and was told they have a strict no refund policy after a billing cycle.

Their policy may be legal, but is very deceptive and I told them so. I'm filing this report to keep others from being deceived by this company.

While searching for resume writing services I came across a website offering a "Free Resume Builder" which would "Create a resume in 15 minutes".

This sounded like a great service so I used the resume builder and at the end I was advised that if I wanted to save the resume for printing I had to pay a one time fee of $1.99. I saw no other details about an ongoing monthly fee.

A month later I my credit card was charged $39.99 for 'monthly membership'.

I didn't authorize this charge and contacted the site owners to request refund and cancellation of future debits.

I received no reply, no refund, and today I've been charged another $39.99! So I've now paid over $80 for a "Free Resume" !!

This website / company is a rip-off merchant, don't get caught by them!

My former company recommended (after I lost my job of 40 years) that I take advantage of this free trail offer to write a resume. I signed up for the free trial which was supposed to be $2.00. I specifically told them I only wanted the free trial nothing more. I was reviewing my visa year end statement and saw these charges for 11 months from 2/2016 to 12/2016. I had no idea I was being charged by this company. I will admit I never looked at my monthly statements as I though I knew what was there. They had no permission to use my credit card for these charges since they were specifically told I only wanted the free trial recommended by my former company. They were of no assistance what so ever. My children helped me with the resume and I secure a new job. This company is a scam. Anyone who wants help writing resumes should look for a live person so you are face to face and not being charged for nothing.

This company is a the absoulte worst when it comes to Business, Ethics, and Morals. I called to get a refund w/in the 30 days of use. However, I did not realize it was 14 days of trial and it must be cancelled with in the 14 days or you will not get a refund per their policy. This was first level support.

I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told, "You will be told the same thing." Ah insight. They know that most smart people ask for a manager when the customer knows they are in the wrong. I was I would get a call back. I asked how long as past experiences has proven I do not get those calls from management back. However, I was wrong and w/in 1 hour I received a call back.

In a nutshell i was told the same thing no refunds you are 3 days past the 14 day trial and our policy states that we do not do any kind of refund. "I wonder how many people have been swindeled by this sham of a company.

I advised that I had been sick, out of work, and I thought that it was a normal 30 return policy, which most or a vast amout of companies abide by. The day I noticed the charge in my account I called. (btw). I was fuming by this point and I asked for her manager. She explained that I would receive an email. I fought for a moment but her manager could not be contacted by phone. I again advised I had been sick and as soon as I saw the charge I called to get it reversed. I advised I am 3 days out and I have only used your service on one occasion. She said I cannot refund you your money, I cannot violate our rules our executives have put in place and I have no authority to approve a refund anyway.

Very rude both customer services agents. Ironically I am in IT and when I told them I only used their service once and have not logged in since they advised me there was no way they could know how much I have used their service. This is a blatent lie. Databases are used to track not only login and logouts, but all other activity or (COMMITS) with times into their database that saves my resume everytime I save it.

I was advised that I would receive an email from the next manager. I did and send off the request again. I also advised to take a look at costco for refund and customer service policy so they may retain customers..

Finally DO NOT USE this company's trial period as they are betting on you forgetting and swindling you out of 40 dollars. I will update this on the email response.

  • Nov 22, 2016

The e mail I got said they had reviewed it and it was terrible and they could help me with it. I declined so I am not sure what occurred that they hit the card but this is the second month. The first month they were supposed to refund and did not tell me how they captured the card info.

They are providing me with no service nor did I request any. However they have now billed twice to my card.

A few months back, my sister didn't have any money. She asked to use my card for a $1.95 resume template. I was hesitant because I have always used free templates. After finding out that my debit card has fraud issues, I saw that there was a recurring charge for $39.99 on my account. I had no idea what this was. Apparently, the $1.95 is a free trial after which you have to pay $39.99. For what?! This is absolutely absurd. In terms of crime this should be on an episode of American Greed! It is pure genius coming from a criminal standpoint.

We searched for FREE RESUME and they were the first hit. The templete populated and my daughter filled in the information. we got all the way to the end and were instrructed that this "free" template was about ready to cost $1.99. She was in a hurry to get it in so she aggreed to the charge. Barely 2 weeks later, we were charged $39.95 for that free resume.

The only thing Genuis about this was the scam. Save yourself from this pain.

In trying to assist a handicapped young lady at my workplace create a resume, I went online and found "Resume Genius" aka RGO Technologies, LLC. In pulling up their website, it appears that it is free of charge: "ONLINE RESUME BUILDER - Create your professional resume in 15 minutes - BUILD MY RESUME NOW". So, I helped this young lady create her resume. Upon completing her resume I went to view it and found out there is a $1.99 charge for a 14 day trial. In order to print the resume, I accepted it and charged the $1.99 to my debit card. Unbenounced to me, there was a "disclaimer" that I would be charged $39.95 monthly after the 14 day trial. Upon seeing a charge of $39.95 on my bank account show up from "RGO Technologies", I immediately became alarmed as I wasn't sure of who/what this charge was.

After doing research, I immediately reached out to the company to discuss removal of this unauthorized charge. The first person explained that she was able to pull up my name and my debit card information but all the emails - including the terms of agreement, etc. were sent to the email of the young lady's resume I had created - not mine. I explained this to the first person I spoke with and she stated she would cancel all further charges, but was "unable to" remove the current $39.95 charge. I then asked to speak with a supervisor. I was told all of the managers were in a meeting and she would have one call me back later.

I received a call back from John Rivera, a manager. He summed up his "customer service" or lack of, with "we are unable to make refunds". I reiterated my story and reason why it is unethical to charge me $39.95 when I never received the emails referencing the terms of agreement, etc. I also repeatedly shared the importance of customer service and importance of listening to individual situations. I truly did this resume out of the goodness of my heart to help this handicapped young lady, paid the $1.99 initial charge and now I'm looking at a $39.95 charge that RGO Technologies will not remove, stating "we can not remove this charge". When they are perfectly capable, just unwilling. I find this completely unacceptable and horrible customer service. This company is clearly lacking sufficient resources in leadership, customer service and ethical practices.

  • Aug 27, 2016

It was offered as a $1.99 1 day trial which you could apply for to get a custom resume template! I downloaded 1 template that I liked and it was stated I would not be charged further. Going back through my visa bills I am seeing that I have been billed $40 a month for the last 3 months.

SCAMMERS

Paid for the trial so I could print my 'free' resume. Canceled a few days later because I got what I needed (and the job, even though their 'service' informed me how bad my resume was and wouldn't I like to pay more to fix it). The day the trial period was to have ended had I not already canceled it, I had a vesta at&t charge on that account for $10 and then two more charges of $50 each (I had ONLY USED THAT ACCOUNT AT RESUME GENIUS). They are beyond the scam of charging you for worthless services if you don't cancel, now they are just outright stealing your credit card info.

My daughter had a school project that asked her to build a resume, she's a minor. She went on to the website in December to complete her assignment and since then has been billed monthly for $40. This recently came to my attention when she shared that her account balance from her allowance keeps reducing each month and she didn't know why. I checked and say these charges. Reached out to resumegenius.com, 8669694904, explained the situation, but they absolutely refuse to refund any of the charges January - July ($300 in total), stating by her accepting the trial she agreed to continuing the service by not cancelling and they have a strict no refund policy BS. She does not/have not used the service at all since December. RGO Resume has simply violated an unknowing teenager by robbing her of her allowance.

  • Jul 6, 2016

I was ripped off by rgo resumes. I paid paid $1.49 or whatever was for the trial. I was not happy with the service. Before trial time ended i sent rgo an email to dicontinue the service. They drafted another $40 from my checking. I didn't have that much in my account and was also charged overdraft fees. I don't make much money. I don't have anyone paying my bill for me. This has been a huge hardship for me!!!

  • Jul 1, 2016

I paid a one time fee of $1.95 to format a resume and now my account alert states that $41.35 was taken from my account on 06/29/2016. I called to dispute the charge but was told that the $1.95 was just a trial fee and that once I paid it, I was accepting their terms of a monthly membership but there is nothing to join. The site simply helps you format a resume... THAT'S IT, so what would I be paying a monthly membership to? The person on the phone was very rude and upset that she could not explain what there was for me to join, so she hung up. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS FRAUDULENT SITE.....

  • Jun 15, 2016

In February of 2016, I needed to find a template to create a resume. I found one on RGO Resumes and entered my credit card to pay the $1.95 for a 14 day trial.

As I was scanning my June Statement of my credit card bill, I noticed a charge for $39.95. I called the number and was informed that when I had signed up for the trial, the fine print said it was my responsibility to cancel it or I would be charged a monthly fee of $39.95.

I am not sure how I missed it for the previous 3 months so I asked the man on the phone to refund my money. He said he was not authorized to do this and it was my fault for not reading the fine print.

Needless to say, I cancelled today and got a cancellation number, but for my one resume I spent a whopping $160.00!! What a bargain!!

This company needs to be shut down.

  • Jun 7, 2016

So, I wanted to find another way to write my resume. An ad comes up on Google for Resume Genius. It says it's a free resume builder. I continue on through the resume builder and have all of the information it needs. Then, I get to the end and it says you have to pay around $2 to get a trial to use the service. I pay for it and get the resume file. It still feels odd that I had to pay for a "free" service. After all the crazy lists I had to go through to get my resume looking better, I get an email that says my resume isn't all that great. It also says they can make it better. Now, I'm getting annoyed. What did I just pay for? Not a free, helpful resume builder. So, it's time for the trial to be up. I go to cancel the account because I ended up wasting $2 on a site I didn't even use. Then, I find that my bank account has been charged about $40. So, I try to cancel the Resume Genius account. I'm still stuck with the subscription for a month. I decided to contact their customer service. It was all automated responses and the person who was chatting acted rude saying I had no way to get a refund. After more"conversing," the person tried to say I could have all of the extra features and later closed the chat down on me because they didn't want to confront the issue. Each time I tried to go back, the same person's name was on every chat. Then, I was even more suspicious. I filed a ticket to their help desk and had my bank reverse authorization. The next day, I got an email from another person from Resume Genius who tried to push the blame of fraud onto me and said I would have to pay the pending fees. This is ridiculous, and I'm sorry for anyone else who fell for these scammers with fake customer service.

  • May 20, 2016

14 day trial used ....called to cancel but they stated i eas 2 hours late in cancelling and they are taking my money anyway! I was to risk being fired to make the call at an exact time! Deceptive practices vy this company!!!!

  • May 4, 2016

I signed up for a 1 month trial with this company and paid $39.95 for 1 month and no where did i read it was going to continue to automatically deduct from my bank account every single month there after . They have charged me 2 extra months before i caught this issue . I contacted them and was told they would not refund any money because it was a trial offer that i should have cancelled after 14 days . But did cancel my account . very frustrated . I informed them that i had contacted my bank and the BBC . These people are thiefs . Flat out just say they aren't going to do anything and would fight the bank if the charges were reversed .

  • Apr 25, 2016

This company is bulls*. I needed to make a resume so I used this company's resume template, after all the work of entering my information, I was asked to put in credit card information, it was $1.95, which was reasonable however later I was charged $39.95 even though I canceled my account after I got what I needed. I am disputing get this with my bank account, this company has no right to fraudulently charge my account after baiting and switching me. I am seriously pissed off. I hope this company gets shut down, they are scams, liars, and abusers.

  • Apr 7, 2016

These people lure you in by allowing you to create a "free" resume, only revealing by the time you spent all the time and effort designing it that there is a fee of 1.99 to save and print it. Well by then you don't want to have to go on another site to build from the ground up so you let them have it. Click a little button that says you agree to the 14 day trial.

No sweat right? I'm out two dollars, but I have a nice resume...

Then before you can cancel the subscription, you get a bill on your credit card indicating a charge of, not 39.95, but 40 dollars. I rushed to cancel the account, but the charge is already being taken out of my account. So I email customer service.

Te reply is detailed indicating that resumegenius is entitled to MY money because I signed up for a subscription and didn't cancel before their billing cycle began. Oh and, by the way, I should use my month of subcription before it cancels....

Yeah, no thanks, I'm afraid to share anymore of my information with these crooks. If you see resumegenius RUN. There are better, and truly free templates to try.

  • Mar 8, 2016

Resume Genius gave me the option to choose how I wanted to pay for the resume I created. I chose access for 1 month and paid for that. I then cancelled the service via a customer service rep. A month later, I realized that they charged my account another $39.95. I have been trying to contact them via phone and e-mail to get them to refund my account, and stop charging me for a service I do not use. They should be marked as a fraudulent company and be forced to shut their doors. This is no better than hackers stealing your money or identity.

  • Feb 29, 2016

Made a mistake and selected the wrong option while using their site via mobile phone, and they refused to refund me. Emailed them and wven live chat, had no consideration, nothing but a******* DO NOT BOTHER USING THIS SITE ITS A WASTE OF MONEY THEY DO NOT HELP YOU WITH ANYTHING THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY

  • Nov 14, 2015

Two weeks ago I went online to do a little research about getting some information to help me improve my outdated resume. I came across resume companion and after being led quickly to the "builder" site,I was able to build a new resume. As I followed the instructions to continue it gave me no option but to enter my debit card information so the the clearly stated $1.95 (I read everything) would be charged so I may obtain access to the resume I just "built." I reluctantly did this and then couldn't access the resume I had just built except via text which came out like a 1980's version of something my grandma would type. I was so exhausted and confused but thought I would cut the loss of the 1.95 and went to bed. Yesterday, whilst on my bank account info. I noticed a pending charge for the amount of $39.99 and was shocked after calling my bank manager to find that it was linked to Resume Builder!! I immediately called them to ask them to explain this and stop it immediately and the rep named "John" laughed at me, belittled me and told me the charge was my responsibility and my fault for not "canceling my agreement" I had NO agreement and I NEVER authorized any monthly agreement with this SCAM. I am out of $40 which is food in my mouth and food for my family and all because I was CONNED by this disgusting scam company and HOW DARE they LAUGH at people whose money they have stolen and refuse to refund it. I want this company s**t down and investigated. I have spent the evening reading posts on a blog from people who have been scammed to the tune of 5/600 dollars which these people have stolen from accounts by this means. This is a complete scam and now I am terrified they have all of my information Do something..

  • Sep 9, 2015

I used ResumeGenius in June 2015 to help me create my resume. I only agreed to pay for the finished product. it was supposed to be a ONE TIME payment of less than US $10.00. No problem, I live in Barbados so that was approx Bds $20.00. Then they started charging me US $39.95 monthly! That is BDS $81.00 on my credit card!! I cannot afford to give these people $81.00 monthly! I noticed the charge in July for June and immdeiately asked them to stop via email. Yet this is September 2015 and they continue to debit my credit card! I want this madness stopped! I wished I had seen this site BEFORE I used ResumeGenius, they are bad news.

  • Aug 19, 2015

I signed up for the 14 day trail. I called the 14th day and they charged my card $39.95. They will NOT give you a refund no matter what you say. They said I signed up at 1:39 and called at 2:03 so I was to late to get refund. They give you a generic response. Of course the supervisor is in a meeting and will call you back. I was upset because I specifically wrote on the calendar when to call them and cancel and to be told I was 20 minute to late is outrageous.

Some lady named Betty left me a generic voicemail verbatim to some of the rip off reports I've been reading so I know they are full of it.

They tried to tell me I could have my family use the services for the rest of the month and that there terms are written somewhere but no where does it say you have until exact minute you sign up. I would think you had until the close of business day.

I have had 2 other companies in the last few years that I had this same thing happen but they gladly refunded me as it wasnt like I was 3 days late trying to cancel my subsctription. I literally miseed the window by 20 minutes. For them to say they couldnt refund me is crazy. I called my bank and got the charge reversed so screw them!

NEVER, NEVER sign up for this website. They are rude, unproffesional, liars. The lady tried to tell me there was only 2 people in the office today so I had to wait for some one to call me but when I called back I could hear a lot of people in the background. NEVER trust a company that would blatantly lie to your face.
