Restore Inc. Reviews

I have a 2005 GMC Sierra with 85,000 miles. I change my own the oil at 3000 miles and use the same oil- valvoline , same weight- 5w-30, and the same filter- fram extra guard, at each oil change. I read the ads for engine restorer and decided that since my engine had over 50,000 miles I would try the restore. The engine had no issues-no oil burning-no loss of power-no rough idle. The oil pressure at highway speed was always 54 pounds. At idle the pressure was always 35 pounds. I drive 34 miles round trip to work every day. The first day after adding the restore I did notice an increase in my oil pressure. 60 pounds at highway speed and 40 pounds at idle.

The next day on my way to work the oil pressure was down to 40 pounds at highway speed and 20 pounds at idle. When I arrived at my work the oil pressure would not go above 20 pounds even when reving the engine. I have been a mechanic and racing engine builder for over 40 years. I checked the oil level and it was at the recommended level. I dropped the filter and let it drain into a clean pan. The oil in the filter was the color of the engine restore, but the oil on the dipstick was clear.

I replaced the filter with another new fram filter and the oil pressure went back to normal both at highway speed and idle. I have a oil filter cutter that I use for inspection of race engines and I cut the filter I had taken off apart. The filter media was almost completely plugged with a gooey mess that looked like the contents of the engine restore bottle. I have driven the truck for almost 750 miles now and the oil pressure is staying at 54 pounds highway and 35 pounds idle. I was one of the lucky ones that this "supplement" did not fully starve my engine for oil. It would be very easy to duplicate this condition again to prove that the engine restore will plug the oil filter again. VERY poor product and I would really like to see that company taken to court.

Note-I shook the engine restore for at least 5 minutes before pouring into the crankcase. I had already changed and refilled the oil in the engine and the engine was at operating tempature.
