Restore 1 Inc Reviews

Do not use this contractor. Jack and Melanie bounced a check for payroll services to our company. Made several promise to pay us, and never came through. Not good to their word.

On November 13 2014 I had a flood in my home due to a water softener that had burst over night filling my home with three inches of water. My insurance company dispatched Restore 1 to come in and remove the water and dry out my home.

They came in with dehumidifiers and fans for every room. Right away the circuit breaker blew in the guest bedroom and they asked me to locate the breaker and turn it back on which I did. Several minutes later they said the breaker had blown again only this time when I went to the panel I could not locate the tripped breaker. After searching I returned and told them I could not locate which breaker had tripped. When I explained this they told me not to worry about it and they rerouted their extension cords to other rooms with working outlets.

Restore 1 told me they wanted to do the remodel on my home and I asked them for a quote for the repair work. They told me one wasn't necessary because they would take whatever money my insurance company offered and if more money was needed for the restoration they would work with my insurance company to get more money. I was not comfortable with their approach so I sought out another contractor to do the restoration work who would provide a written quote.

Being so close to holidays I had difficulty finding a contractor that wasn't already booked up but I needed to get back in my home ASAP. A few days later I found a contractor willing to do the work and the first day when he arrived he pointed out that there was no electricity in 2 1/2 rooms. I contacted Restore 1 and explained that they had blown a circuit but my calls were not returned repeatedly.

It took months before I could move back in and start unpacking the hundreds of boxes of my belongings and I finally made to the guest room which still had no electricity. I began calling Restore 1 again to get a response. I was finally called back and they informed me that I owed them nearly $7000.00 for the dry out work and it was well overdue. They threatened to send it to collections if I did not pay it right away and ruin my credit rating. Again I asked about the damaged circuitry and they said if I paid the amount I owed they would send an electrician the next day to make the repirs so I paid it with a credit card.

When the electrician came he could not determine which circuit was blown and said he would have to come back with better testing equipment. I contacted my insurance company and sure enough they told me they had paid for the dry out back in November 2014. When I contacted Restore 1 they said they would look into it. Weeks went by and I finally contacted my credit card company to dispute the double billing. Within days I received a call back from Restore 1 CEO Jack Hanks asking why I had disputed the charges and he said they would not complete the repairs unless I could prove they had been paid by my insurance company. It took weeks and repeated emails and phone calls back and forth to saitsfy them that they had been paid originally.

Finally in November of 2015 a year after my flood they sent their project manager Chris Colbourn to check the circuitry. He too said he needed better equipment to trace out the burned out circuit and would need to come back but he never did.

After more emails I received an email from Chris Colbourn telling me they had determined the damage was not their fault and they would reccomend an electrician I could hire to make the repairs at my cost. An email from Jack Hanks asked if remodeling work had been done on my home as if that was the reasoning they were not responsible for the damage.

This is not a profesional company and they have very questionable business practices. Even Chris Colbourn their project manager admitted to me their accounting department was useless and they had fired a number of people beciuse they couln't mange their accounts. AVOID this company at all costs.
