My wife rented a trailer from Uhaul for the last few items of our move about 35 miles north of our old house. The trailer was way to much weight for our jeep as well as way to much weight for the rating on our receiver ball hitch. After loading up trailer and proceeding to head up north to our new residence approximately 3 miles into the trip on the freeway the springs on our jeep broke as well as overheating of the engine and throwing a rod as well. The time was around 1 a.m called Uhaul's (not so 24hr. roadside service a voicemail prompted me to there website. Who has access to this at 1 a.m in the morning on the freeway? Anyways after a few hours of trying to figure out what to do had to leave both parked on shoulder of freeway. Called Uhaul next morning to tell them what had happened they suggested get one of there trucks to retrieve the trailer. Upon arrival of where they were left both jeep and trailer were impounded at a cost of $460 each X 2= $920. That was our only veh. No way of getting them out of impound. Our insurance company said not their fault but fault of Uhaul. Had to pay someone $250 to get them out of impound lot. This whole while after even explaining to them what had happened was still being charged by Uhaul.

Wife even bought insurance from Uhaul not that it is really even needed in this case. Since Uhaul is negligent for renting the trailer to my wife in the first place. Anyways after 3 painstaking months of delays different adjustors circus clowns shows and acts the denied the claim. Quote unquote from. 2nd adjustor from repwest the V.P of the dealerships in utah (after 10 days of waiting on him to decide his higher than mighty decision) says the jeep is too old and would of broke down anyways.. What ?? Wow that is a pretty bold statement. But you will go ahead and wrongfully connect and gladly accept my wife's money for coverage anyways? What a joke. Well knowing this my adjustor said we are still gonna push this through for you. Geez thanks!!! And I said for what amount is this for? He said $1500?? Are you serious?

I said not even close to what I feel is owed to us. The receipts from the impound, impound retrieval, Bill from Uhaul still charging us in the impound yard let alone what the claims adjustor repwest sent out to check out the jeep are almost even twice that amount. I asked him do you understand? Your boss made it clear to me months ago. Hey if you want something you need to provide receipts. Well I did. And it is pretty easy math we all learned in grammar school you just add all the totals together. I have a calculator if you need. But that does not equal $1500 . Let alone the dog and pony show circus and delays I have dealt with through this company. Worst I mean worst un professionalexperience of my life with this REPWORST company.

On september 10th, 2018 we rented a UHaul car trailer from Mid States Truck Equipment. Their attendant hooked it up for us. We went to northern Illinois to load a car. When we drove the car onto the trailer, the hitch came off the the ball and dented the back of our truck, als damaging the license plate. A month later Repwest called to tell me they were denying our claim. Even though a UHaul authorized employee hooked up the trailer and it was UHaul's equipment, they refused to pay. I will never do business with UHaul again.

When moving, I contacted UHaul who represented their U-Box service as a one-stop shop when in actuality, when problems started to mount, there were 4 separate companies to deal with. Filed furniture damage claim with their insurance... Repwest Insurance who denied claim after saying they contacted Uhaul to find no damage to boxes. They said they don't cover damage due to shift of goods. What are they covering?? I never received a copy of the insurance coverage after multiple requests when I bought coverage so had no idea of details other than what the representitive gave me over the phone. Needless to say nothing about shifting damage was ever addressed. They have finally found the paperwork and will email to me (9 months later). They also mentioned a $100 deductable per item claimed when I made initial claim in Sept.2017 via phone. News to me!! Majority of damage was in one box, the box Uhaul lost for 30+ days.

Where was this box for a month and how many times had it been jostled about?? Could have gone to NY and back to Seattle in that time. UBoxes were also moved several times in Nampa storage,(total storage time was 3 months with continued insurance coverage), plus late delivery and errored billings (lots of problems with Uhaul). There is no way some shift will not occur in these boxes. I used their endorsed moving company for professional packing as I didn't want to be responsible. They are supposed to know how to stack in those boxes. Since then of course, Uhaul disputes any affiliation with moving site, Movinghelp.com. thus taking no responsibility for their initial recommendation of site or proficiency of the mover. Now the insurance company wants me to contact the moving company. For What??? Another run around is all. No consideration given to fact of lost box. The business model is a joke with no one taking responsibility for the other's actions. I was told by Uhaul there is no affiliation between the separate companies, but there is..most are flying under the parent company of Amerco. With some digging, I am sure to find the moving company site is also affiliated some how as well. I feel this is out and out fraud and if enough users of Uhaul and their affiliates are contacted, you will find sufficient evidence to agree. I am sure very few claims are paid...this is a scam and I think this is a case for a class action lawsuit. I went with Uhaul due to their branding and am I ever disappointed with their performance and integrity. Never use Uhaul's Ubox (pod) service. This service is so bad there are no nice words to describe it. I am currently looking for legal assistance...these guys need to be stopped and held accountable.

My husband and I rented a uhaul truck last year. Several months later we got a letter from rep west saying we damaged the top of the truck, something about ribbit's on a top corner. they sent us an accident report to fill out but we couldn't do it because we were unaware of any damage. my husband went to the uhaul place where we returned it. they looked up the cost of the damage and said it was about $275.00. we thought they would bill us. months later we got a letter from attorneys saying we owed $1,7800.00. I set up monthly payments and have paid $400.00. I made a payoff offer and was refused. I told them I was being ripped off and I wanted it to stop. We were never sent and invoices for the cost of the repairs. A woman from their attorneys I talk to today said the labor was what was so expensive. I told her I no longer wanted to pay them anything and they can sue me. She said she would let the lawyers know.

I rented a U-Haul trailer to tow vehicle to CA and bought the insurance they offer for extended coverage by RepWest Insurance. It was type of trailer that towed vehicle completely off the ground with the strap tie-downs around the front wheels. When I arrived to CA just pulling off from a green light, the car being towed comes off the rear of the trailer! The front of the vehicle basically rolled right off hitting the ground (while in park and emergency break applied) Breaks the axle, motor mounts, and radiator (picture evidence provided).

Cailfornia Police Department happens to roll up while the vehicle is off the trailer, the put their lights warning other drivers, get out and ask how it came off? CA PD observed the trailer and pointed out that the tie-down straps weren't securely fastened to the metal cranks and weren't properly locking in place! I was like "holy s**t are you serious?" I was so lucky the vehicle didnt fall off while driving on the freeway!

I filed the claim with RepWest (insurance you can buy from U-Haul when you rent) with a proper incident report and pictures.

Insurance adjuster didnt even have the professionalism to return ANY of my numerous phone calls and emails!

Watch out total complete scam!

I relocated from NYC to Tampa. I had a moving truck to deliver 44 boxes and a 55 in tv to a storage unit . The unit was at the UHaul in Ybor City in Tampa. I purchased various items of furniture over the next several months and placed them in the storage unit. A vintage velvet arm chair, lamps, leather sofa and matching ottoman, a pair of George Zee numbered tables, etc. I decide to go to the unit on 10/30/16 to get some sweaters and jeans from suitcases that were being stored in the unit. That's when a dank odor of mold and mildew hit upon entering into the unit. There were rodent droppings and huge roaches inside the room. I retrieved one of the pieces of luggage and it was wet!! I looked inside and was horrified! All my clothes were wet, smelling like mildew and some covered with mold! Most of the items of clothing were new with tags still on! Later I found out my George Zee tables had water damage, my leather sofa smelled of mildew and had mold on it.

brand new down comforter, towels all wet and stained.. mold and mildew.. 2 suitcases of clothes! The list goes on.. live and dead bugs inside of boxes.. I opened a box of shoes that was packed in a big box with other shoes and found a giant roach crawling in my shoe.. a brand new pair of short leather boots never worn.. had been gnawed by mice with pieces of leathers crumbs over items.. 3 boxes of books.. my daughter is an avid reader and uses many of them for her job in business advertising and coffee table books.. wet and or smelling like mildew!! They told me things damaged can be cleaned and my photos didn't prove substantial damages.. I submitted 179 photos!! The offered we $1000 minus a $100 deductible! I said that is unacceptable and refused! The battle between us will continue! Considering small claims court and or a lawyer.
