Renters Paradise Realty Inc Reviews

  • May 14, 2016

It was the first time I was moving to an apartment of my own so I was a little nieve already, but these people took complete advantage. I had been planning to move to Miami and had been planning a move to Miami and browsed dozens of places on craigslist. On my way down there to apartment hunt, I called the places I was interest in and left a message. When I got a call back about the first place located in downtown Miami, there seemed to be some unorganized confusion about the price that was listed, the craigslist ad said $795, but the woman on the phone said there must be a mistake because no place in downtown is under $1,000. We met with the woman and viewed the apartment anyways.

We then called about a loft we had seen on craigslist and went to meet with a realtor down at the North Miami Beach location. When we arrived she talked me out of the loft by informing me that that loft would be too small for a couple and that the closet was tiny. Then she said she would take us to see two apartments in my price range, one on Biscayne and one in North Miami Beach. She told us the place on Biscayne was $975 and we could probably get the owner to negotiate to $950. This place was decent, but it had no closet in the bedroom, and a tiny closet in the hall. Why would she not show us the loft that supposedly has a closet too tiny for two people, and show us this one with no bedroom closet. The second apartment was newer, on the bay, secure, washer and dryer, and central air at $850. I decided to go with the second one because it was cheaper, better, and had a closet. So we went back to the office and signed the lease, paid $2,400 security deposit, application fees, and first months rent. It was all very overwheling for me as it was my first apartment.

When we had been coming up on our second month of living in the apartment, I realized I didn't know where I was supposed to be sending the rent. There was also a flyer in the apartment of from when it was for rent and it was listed at $975, which confused me since the realtor told me this apartment was $850. We called the office and told them we had never gotten a copy of our lease and they were not very helpful. So we went to their office a little heated about the situation. The realtor that had "helped" us lied to my face when I told her what she told us, and she went over to speak to her manager that I couldn't see because she was behind a wall. She told her manager why we were there and we wanted a copy of our lease. The manager said in a rude voice "Tell me they are happy." The realtor responded sarcastically "They are, they are very happy." Then they proceeded to question me on how I could be confused about the price when I signed the lease and paid the money.

In the end the landlord also ended up being a crook. He got served foreclosure papers for that apartment while we were living there, and it took me 3 months of harrassing him to get my security deposit back.
