Remix College Tour 2016 Reviews

  • Sep 5, 2016

I'd like to make artists aware of this scam called the " 2016 Remix College Tour" which is now evolving to the "2017 Remix College Tour" as she keeps making the artists who signed upthat the Tour has been postponed for reasons beyond her power.

Her name is Ashley Powell, a young black woman from Detroit MI (If I believe what she said) in her mid to late 20s, very smart, very articulate and bright enough to make you believe that you've found the right person you can work with to make things happen with your music.

At first I didn't want to write this or report her as I finally got my money back and was about to move on with my life but I thought of all the music artists who just like take their art seriously and look for allies everyday to create an impact that's when I realized I had to do something for at least warn those who will take the time to do some research before jumping on board with her.

She found me on twitter around the end of May 2016 and email me congratulating me that their A&R department found me and think I would be a great fit for this college tour they are working on. 20 dates in 20 different colleges, you get paid $500 per show, transportation/flights and Hotel are fully covered you just have to show up on time, do your thing and that's it. But you had to pay $300 to register, cover administration and exposure fees.

She will mention so many things that she will do or send to you and not even do one of them. Like saying her so called assistant Leon gonna call to have you set up, she is going to mail you the welcome kit along with some staff to confirm that you are part of the tour, that the hotel rooms and flight are already reserved but she doesn't want anyone to call to double check on that, she gonna tell that she closed the deal with ticketmaster as sponsor and the tour is nowhere to be found on their website, slong with so many other other that eventually will get you to start wondering what's going on.

The Tour I removed myself from was supposed to start on August 20 and UCLA was the first stop. She emailed me and all the other artists as well to tell us that the tour has been postponed to October 21st and refused to give us any explanation, saying that if we are not sponsors we shouldn't be calling her.

After doing a little bit of investigation calling few colleges the Tour was scheduled to stop at UCLA and NYU I was told they had never heard of it and even on their website that there was nodate for the tour even long before she said it was cancelled.

I asked to be refunded and she said that a one year contract was signed (contract I've never signed and returned) so I contacted Paypal opened a claim and eventually got reimbursed as she couldn't provide any proof that she had provided the service we had agreed on. From the way she respond to scamming accusations you can tell she feels no type of guilt or remorse over what she's doing and feels untouchable since we can't really tell where she's located. She knows she can keeps hiding behind her phone and computer and keep doing her dirty work.

And now after me and many other artists removed ourselves, she had already found dozens of new people to whom she has obviously sold the same lie and probably took their money already. She knows there are thousand of artists out there trying to make it in this oversaturated music industry so she decided to get her piece by selling fake services services since it's easy money.

I know $300 is not a lot of Money but it does add up when you take from 20 people few times a year.

I just hope some artists will do some research and read this article before they decide to let her waste their time.

Sorry if it was a long to read but this is the shortest I could cut it as there's so much to say that this girl.

Good luck with your music career and be safe out there.
