My wife and I own two coin operated ice vending machines (free standing buildings) one located in South Dallas at 1893 South St. Augustine Road, Dallas, TX 75217, and the other at 12917 Seagoville Road, Balch Springs, TX 75180. About 7 months ago, on the promise of better rates, we switched our service to Reliant electric. It was a horrible decision. We could never get our bills.
Reliant would claim they had mailed our bill, and would tell us to go to the post office and ask them why we did not get our mail. I would go online, and try to download our bill, but the website would not let us on, because it said we had a multiple account. The only way we could get a bill was to call them and get them to email us a bill.
We would give them a credit card and pay the bills, and ask each time, is this all the charges. We complained each time that we were not getting a bill, and each time we were told, Reliant is mailing the bills. We finally got a call from a supervisor in early January, asking about the problems (after 6 months of complaining).
She was able to straighten out the computer (which had a hold on mailing us a bill for some reason) and get our mailings started. We got our first bill in late January. It had extra charges of $129.80, $25.00, $10.00, and $1.75. in addition to our usage in December of $352.08.
I called customer service and talked to Marshall. He said the extra charges were from November when we owed $192.03 more than we paid. I said how can that be? We never got any bills, and we always called in and paid whatever you said was due. He said he could refund the $25.00 but could not review the $$192.03, because it was too old.
I asked to speak to a supervisor. He said he was a supervisor. I asked to speak to his boss. He said he had no boss. I gave up and said I would talk to the PUC and the Texas Attorney General. He said that was fine.
I have this stupid company for my four business, in one of my business when it is up for renewal they don't send any renewal notice, in the monthly below energy usage they have a box that says" Your current plan will end soon. Renew your plan today and secure Fixed energy charges".
Me being overwhelmed with too many bills from my businesses I missed seeing this part, they changed my charges from $0.045 to 0.141 automatically, and when talking to the rep over the phone he said if I renew they will fix my bill to the current renewing price, so I renewed but they didn't fix, called them now since I renewed they can fix the previous bill, kept arguing they send the renewal letter, when verified the address it was wrong address.
They say when they read the mailing address "when started the account" they did oral confirmation and its legal." the street address read wrong and we said yes" which I don't remember after 2 years.
Now they put a hold on account switch and have to pay all with not changing charges to current renewal. and stuck again in the contract for 2 years.
NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. THEY WON'T SEND YOU A RENEWAL LETTER TO SCAM YOU. THEY DO RENEWAL SCAM to get extra money from the customer.
We were perfectly content with our electrical provider, (Center Point through Our Energy). Then came the knock on the door. The man said that we were part of a study on energy usage and that HE would Guarantee us up to 30% savings. He said that we would no longer pay the "handling charge" to Center Point. He asked for my cell # and someone called right away. At tis point is the first time that Reliant was mentioned (by the person on the phone). The phone employee went through his legal speech, and the man kept nodding and giving thumbs up to me.
WELL. We just got our first bill. It is 15% HIGHER than our previous supplier. And what do you know! there is the same "handling" charge to Center Point.
I was OUTRAGED! I called Reliant and was told I was in a 36 month contract with a $390 CANCELLATION FEE. WHAT!!!! he associate then said that we could be put into another plan that would get us closer to what we paid with the previous Supplier. The minute the 36 months are up We are DUMPING Reliant. If anybody shows up at your door, Tell Them to GO TO HELL and slam the door!
They are sneaky and use unethical tactics to take advantage of people.
