Reed's Jeweler's SWAPPED my DIAMOND Reed's Jeweler's swapped my diamond for a smaller and lower quality stone. My husband purchased my wedding ring from their Huntsville,Al location in 2014. I took it back there in 2016 to get it cleaned and re-dipped in white gold. I dropped it off for 6 hours and returned to pick it up to find out that they had SWAPPED my diamond. This has been so heart breaking and such an emotional rollercoaster. I can't believe they would do such a horrific crime to their customer. I want to warn everyone/ anyone who is thinking about doing business with them that they are disloyal and I wouldn't trust them. They also failed to provide the IGI certificate for the original ring which was supposed to have came in the mail to find out later that there isn't a IGI certificate to match the diamond. Luckily, we already had it appraised and the ring I have now is a lower weight, color, and clarity. I informed Reed's that I will not allow this to be swept under the rug as they offered to replace the stone but only if I kept this confidential. Total disregard for the emotional turmoil I've been through because of this. I know I will never get my stone, the one I picked out, wore and admired for over two years and exchanged vows with back so I chose to let others know of their dishonesty, fraudulent, bad business habits instead. I wouldn't wish this to happen to anyone. So please protect all your friends and love ones by sharing my story as we continue to pursue this legally.
The week of 4th July weekend I took my 4 ct quad diamond engagement ring, wedding ring, and (2 ) of 1/2ct anniversary rings to get cleaned. I was informed my warranty expired on my bridal set expired in May 2016. She inquired if I would like to get the lifetime warranty. She said that the rings would be sent to the jeweler if it needed to have any repairs. I agreed and had rings sent to jeweler. I received a call from associate informing me that the jeweler will need to tighten the diamonds and redip the rhodium and would cost $51.00. I authorized the repair. . I get a call that rings are ready for pickup. I call last Friday (8/5/16) to inquire on the total balance for the authorized repair at $51.00 plus the
cost of the lifetime warranty on the 4 rings. I was told I owe $4,890.74 for the repairs to the rings. She said she could not give me the price for the lifetime warranty on my rings because it wasn't in the system. I thought they made a mistake and looking at someone else's invoice. She confirmed my name and quantity of rings. In disbelief, I asked her why it was $4,890.00 and said I approved repairs on the rings. I told her I approved the tightening of diamonds and redip the rhodium for $51.00. At no time did any associate call to inform me that other repairs were beeded to be made or how much it was going to cost. I asked to speak to manager and wouldn't be in until Monday. I spoke to assistant
manager lizzett and I informed her of the unauthorized repairs. I inquired what repairs were made to total $4,890.64. She said 2 of the quad diamonds were replaced. I told her this is the first time I'm hearing about the diamonds being replaced and did not authorize that repair. I inquired why they were replaced. She said the diamonds must have been chipped, cracked, or damaged. I told her I would have made a special trip to corpus (2 hour drive from where I live) to have them show me that my diamonds were chipped cracked or damaged because I've had the bridal set just over 3 years. I ask to speak to manager and told he would be in on Monday. I speak go manager Edgar and says his
understanding is that I have an issue with the repair fees for $4,890.64. I told him my issue is that I did not speak to anybody there about other repairs to be done nor did not authorize to have diamonds replaced. I authorized $51.00 for tightening of stones and have them redipped. That's the only conversation I had about the repairs that I needed to have. Managers solution??? He said minus the jeweler fees it cost him$3,000 to replace the 2 quad diamonds, have the prongs rebuilt, and fix the bottom of the band and have it cleaned and polished. Which the additional repairs made to quad ring is the 1 st time hearing about the repairs. . He expects me to pay 1/2 of the $3,000 and charge me $1,500 for quad
ring, in addition to $36.00 to have them cleaned polish and redipped, $48.00 for 1 anniversary ring he said 1 diamond was replaced , and $51.00 for the other anniversary band he said had two diamonds replaced!!!! What??? Now this is the first time I'm hearing about these other diamonds that were replaced on my anniversary Bands, which nobody from Reeds consulted with me nor did I authorize for these repairs to be done either !!!! Manager said if I paid for these repairs he will sell me the lifetime warrant for the quad diamond ring at $315.99, the wedding ring for $149.00, and each of the anniversary bands for $119.00 each coming out to $2,337.99!!! Is this how Reeds conducts their business to get
people to pay for repairs that were not authorized and expect to pay the bill in order to get my rings back . He still wants to charge me for The lifetime warranty on top of that??I thinks it's a shady sales/business tactic and a ripp off!!! Manager also said that he can send my rings back to the jeweler and have my rings put back in the condition they were in. Now how am I suppose to know what kind of condition the rings were in when nobody consulted me about the additional repairs or how much it was going to cost. I paid $6,000 for my 4 cry bridal set so why would I approve almost 5,000 of repairs to be done when I could have purchased a brand new set? I have been a Reeds lloyal customer and have
purchased a 1 ct diamond heart necklace , 1 ct diamond hoop earrings, I paid for my moms 3 ct diamond wedding ring, my dads 1 ct diamond wedding band, aside from my 4 ct bridal set and 2 of the 1/2 ct diamond anniversary bands. I am appalled by the shady business scheme to have me dish out money for repairs that were not authorized by me. I was definitely not treated as a valued loyal customer and did make me feel like I am apart of the "Reeds family". It's their way of covering up their screw up and maybe should have customers sign a receipt or estimate of the repairs to be done before it gets sent off to the jeweler and expect you to pay in order to get your jewelry back. I will NEVER purchase anything from Reeds Jewelers.
