RecDirect Factory Outlets Reviews

  • May 12, 2017

I was recently forced to file complaints against RecDirect with the Better Business Bureau in both Atlanta and in Tennessee.

I recommend that consumers do not buy from RecDirect.

We purchased a spa and called about it week after week after it was supposed to be delivered. The salesman, Carey Allred, never even checked on it. Each time he just said "call back next week". He tended to be rude and flippant as if it wasn't worth his time.

We finally called the factory directly and were told it would ship out by the end of that week or early the next. Two weeks later we had not heard a word from them.

After 7 weeks we had to dispute the purchase on our credit card because RecDirect will attempt to charge $1000 - $2000 to cancel an order.

We didn't cancel it, however. We just never received the merchandise. If a customer was to actually receive merchandise from them I cannot imagine that they would honor a warranty after having dealt with them on the sale. Everything we were told turned out to be untrue even when we spoke with the factory directly. It was a huge mistake to do business with them, and as of now we have to consider the sale to be a fraudulent transaction.

After I lodged complaints with the Better Business Bureau in both Georgia and Tennessee because RecDirect failed to deliver merchandise I paid for, Mike Thomas, VP of Operations at RecDirect sent me harassing text messages. Over the course of an hour he sent me 101 messages (literally). First, he threatened to charge me 25% for the item they never delivered. Then he went on to send a host of other threats. Here are some of the threats he sent me verbatim; “Wanna play hardball? Let’s do it”, “I will give you till 5pm to call me back and after that don’t bother”, “Better call your lawyer because that’s next step”

Who talks to customers like that? What kind of business has upper level management who conducts themselves like that? The fact that RecDirect has executives who threaten customers in that manner says a great deal about their business practices. Really shameful. Avoid at all costs.

In January 15, 2015 I received a 16 foot swim spa from Recdirect Factory Warehouse out of Kingsport, Tennessee delivered to my back yard price of $1000. Cabinet was cracked. Called company yes they sent me replacement for flat pieces not the corner piece I needed. Called back and finally got right part. Cheap cabinetry. After 6 months sound speakers started crackling. The speakers were placed too close to the water level. Always get wet. Have replaced them myself at my cost no longer covered under warranty. Then the LED water level lights started blowing. No longer under warranty after 6 months. Replaced myself after buying parts. Have had a slow leak for 6 months now probablyI longer. Got tired of loosing water and topping off so often so I decided to look inside. Have kept great chemical balance. Had a leaking filter housing where the large nut to it buts up under the spa. I loosened that and caulked with marine grade caulk. Works fine now. Filled back up after draining low enough to get this job done. Cut the cheap Chinese pumps on unfortunately 4 cheap pumps about 3hp that they claimed were 6 HP (see there advertised web site) and water gushed out into the bottom. Lost 300 gallons of city water twice to find the priblem that is costky to me. Had a cracked manifold that lines go to the fountains that shoot over from both sides. So many luxuries with this swim spa that I can't use now.

After so many complaints in recent emails that I have documented I asked for the part to fix the manifold and they supposedly are sending it to me now. I called a local company that repairs spas and hot tubs to find and fix my problem for me being I work all the time and don't have a lot of time to work on things. They told me that I bought a low end swim spa and that he did not really care about working on it that he would not work with this company with any warranty issues being that this company did not back what they sold. I told him I would pay for everything and he still brushed me off. I called another company who promised me two days to be there to work on it and they will not respond to me now. I called one more place for parts who told me I had a low end spa and that the guy David that owns this company buys cheap Chinese parts for it. This same gentleman said David has filed bankruptcy before and has changed several names of the company before. Mike Brammel from Indian Trail, NC was the sucky salesman that sold me this crap from their store, I guess there is a store there being I ordered it from him by calling him and he taking my bank card number. He was hateful after I paid when it was around 5 months after ordering and paying in full before I received it. I had all the money borrowed before he asked for half to go ahead and order it. He told me 6 to 8 weeks to build and have it delivered. I had to raise Cain about that with a supervisor Bryan with Recdirect in Kingsport, Tennessee.

The moral of this story is I spent $15,000 on a piece of crap when I should have spent $3,000 more and bought a high end product.bI have 2 1/2 years to pay on this crap. I am highly disappointed with their product. Take my advise let him file bankruptcy again and shut his company down for good. Don't buy anything from Recdirect Factory Warehouse, Laguna Bay, Leisure Products, whatever other names they decide to change to.
