I looked for any proof of receipt of acceptance of this service, but I never received anything via email, nor via US States mail service.
The collection agency is telling me I owe $1026.26
I called and spoke with a guy named Justin, but all he wants to do is for me to set up payments, I told him NO WAY, I would get a lawyer to deal with this. I didn't want this type of service ever again.
I received a call years ago from Readers Subscription Services. I told them over the phone I was not interested in their services, but yet they sent magazine subscriptions anyways, all of which i was charged for. When I saw the charges posted to my account, I promptly called to state that I did not want the services and did not want to be charged for the service. No record of this call exists, or so I am told. I was told that because I provided payment information by giving my credit card information that that was authorization for the service. I was told when I called that all subscriptions would be stopped and I would not be charged anything further. Then yesterday, I received a statement from Capital Billing Services stating that I owe an astronomical amount. This is the first statememt I have ever recieved. I called the toll free number and was actually able to speak to a person telling me that we could settle for a lesser amount but I would have to pay half of the lesser amount up front, in full before we could proceed. I cancelled the mailing service years ago, but no record of that call exists. Upon doing research online, I found out that this is a false collections claim. I do not want my credit ruined by these people and feel I do not owe them anything for something that I clearly cancelled years ago.
Readers Subscription Service Reviews
They called me offering subscriptions to 6 magazines for 3 years for $49.90 a month for 3 months. Plus I get a $200 gift card.
Got a letter saying I owed $49.90 for next 30 months not 3. Never got a gift card.
Tried to cancel within first week and was told no. Have several confirmation numbers for a final payment or end of contract but the bills never stop.
Now I have a letter from Pacific Collection Group saying I still owe 874.40.
