I bought a 2008 bmw 335i from rc hill mitsubishi in deland on may 27, 2016. The salesman, john scire, told me i had a 90 day "worry free warranty" when i purchased the car. He said "the 90 day warranty covers everything except routine maintenance like oil change, brakes."
Today the car over heated in putnam county. After the car cooled down i checked the coolant level and it was fine. I restarted the car and as the car warmed up the cooling fan came on. I drove about half a mile and the car overheated again. Since it had coolant and the fan was working, the issue is probably the thermostat or the water pump. Since when water pumps fail they usually leak water causing you to lose coolant, and since the car was not low on coolant i was pretty sure i needed a thermostat. I called rc hill mitsubishi and spoke with the service dept and after several minutes on hold i was told that i did not have any warranty, but if i could get the car to them they would "see what they could do" to help me with the repairs.
I called a tow truck and after many hours we arrived at rc hill mitsubishi in deland. The salesman john scire was outside and approached me as i got out of the tow truck and asked me what happened. I told him the car overheated and they are telling me i don't have a warranty. He ask how many miles i had put on the car. I told him about 1300. He said "don't worry about it, it is covered." i said "the service dept says i'm not covered." he said "every car that leaves this lot is covered by the 90 day warranty that covers everything." he walked into the service dept and i followed. The person at the desk informed him the car was not covered. We walked over to the sales dept and the sales manager informed both of us that "foreign cars are not covered by the 90 day."
I left the car so they could find the problem. When i returned i was told the car needed a water pump and a thermostat at a cost of over $1400. More on this in another post, but something doesn't sound right about that diagnosis. I went over to talk to john scire the salesman, i asked him if his company was going to honor the warranty he told me i had. He said "i never told you that you had the unlimited warranty." now i can understand being mistaken. Not knowing that foreign cars are covered by the warranty that is on "every car that leaves this lot." but to change your tune and deny ever saying there was a warranty is well, i'll let you be the judge.
I probably should have check other reviews online before i purchased from them. Other than the reviews that appear to me to be professionally written, they are mostly bad reviews: http://www.Yelp.com/biz/r-c-hill-mitsubishi-deland-2
I'm going down in the morning to pick up the car. I suspect a thermostat is all i need. If it possable to update these post, i will.
