Wallet Hub recommended reaching out to them to get a lower interest rate on a car loan. Theirs was actually higher than my own credit union. said there would he no hard credit check. Lied.

Then kept trying to get me to refinance at the higher rate.

I am very familiar with finance /lending practices / ran my own customer service company for 30 yrs . I don't know how they remain in business and feel bad for anyone who placed their trust in this company. I regret that day (in early Oct.) when I first contacted Rate "Genius" (what a joke) to reduce my interest rate and refi my auto loan.

I want to first say the name alone is a complete joke They are unprofessional ,not customer service minded and far from "genius" at anything .They fail to provide the true facts to customers and kept changing their game throughout the refi process. After a long wait /time wasted , I was told my application was denied .

They lied saying it was my low credit score? But that was not true .After much aggravation ,I was told to "re apply" and shortly after ,I received an alert from Transunion saying they had pulled my credit a second time - without my knowledge or consent - and again sent my application to various lenders .

This was never disclosed to me. More time passed and I was finally approved .I thought everything was done but , I received a large Fed Ex envelope containing pages and pages of ridiculous ,unnecessary paper work they required I fill out and send back .

Again never told to me? It included countless forms ,documents ,things to Xerox and notorize etc. for things I never had to fill out /submitt to any lender /bank for any type of loan I ever applied for. I completed all the paperwork and sent it back - only to receive a call a week later telling me some of it was " incomplete / not signed properly" !

SO, back to the copy center,bank,notary I went .Then back to Fed Ex to send it out. The final "savings" were a mere $15per mo .totally not worth this exhaustive process .Today is Jan 9 ,4 months after first calling this company -and I still have not made my 1st payment to the new lender. The process was deceptive,frustrating,overall NOT worth the time or trouble .

I regret not having just gone down to my local bank and ask for their help. I would like to report rategenius as an unprofessional and dishonest financial institution and warn others to not choose this company . Jump to Toolbar

Was given a letter in the mail that could guarantee my refinance by rate genius, i called them and confirmed this and they told me over the phone i could get a lower rate. i asked if this was for sure they yes and i have good credit. so i submitted an application ane i didnt recieve a call back for days. i then decided to call back my self and was told i was declined due to the fact that i have a good rate already. they ran my credit caused damage to my report and im furiuos with there service.

Please do not use this company unless you are ready to waste your precious time.

I was informed by the loan officer on 4/15 that I was approved for refinancing of my existing auto loan. I was told the new loan terms and emailed paperwork which i was required to sign and mail back as soon as possible.

I completed all paperwork and returned it on 4/16 via UPS using the prepaid label. My documents were received on 4/19 by my loan officer at Rate Genius at which point I was informed by the loan officer that all of the required docuemnts have been received and my old loan would be paid off before the end of the week which was 4/22/2016.

So Tuesday went by, wednesday, Thursday and finally Friday with no word of the payment being sent to my current auto finacing company to pay off my account. So i called several times nothing but voicemail. Finally i called customer services and my loan officer gets on the phone and says "Oh, apparently the credit union changed its rules and now can only finance 100% of your loan.... Puzzled I ask... what that means.

The Loan officer says, that 100% of what the truck is worth would be about 30k your current loan however would require them to pay 119% or 34k to pay off the loan. So now the credit union is requiring you to make a deposit or down payment for the diffence....

Really? SO when was i going to be informed about this change? I sat here for days waiting for Rate Genius to fund a loan that i was informed I approved for. I signed the loan terms, submitted all required documentation and even completed the affidavits, and credit card and personal identifiable information needed for the title registration only to discover as a result of my own due dillegence that this was not infact the case.

This company is full of crap... and a total waste of time! Buyers beware..
