I called the local branch of this company to remove mold from a kitchen area at one of our apartments in Winston Salem, NC. The company promised that they come out, test the mold, wear protective clothing and put up barriers and provide air scrubbers to the apartment to help capture any mold spores. They also said they remove all mold. They gave me a price of no more than $500 to get the job done in that manner. They sent an email that gave a warranty of 3 years along with a price. The day their employees came to so the work he wore shorts and a tshirt, socks and shoes. He never put on any protective gear of any kind including a mask, and never did any testing of the mold. no barrier was installed and all he did was spray sporiciden, which is a chemical that kills mold. They never removed any of the molded area until I made the kid cut out a tiny bit of insulation that had mold. They did not remove any of the major mold that was in the unit. He said the chemical killed it and it did not need to be removed.
The tenant was allergic to the mold and I could not allow her back in the unit until the mold was removed. This cost me another contractor to come out and do the job that this company said they would do.
When the home office in Landsing Michigan called the next day to ask for payment, I told the woman that I felt I was ripped off and they needed to not charge or adjust the price signifigantly. I told her the story of what happend and she told me that she hears this all the time and she did nto blame me for not wanting to pay. A few days leter another lady called asking for payment and I told her the story, and she demanded that I pay. I told her I wanted to speak to her supervisor. A woman by the name of Ashley Dobbs called me back, she is the manager, and collections manager. After telling her my story with several interuptions on her part, she told me that they still provided a service and I had to pay. I told her that it was scam and I would report it on the BBB, which I did. She said that they would take two hundred off the amount of $500. I told her that was still a rip off. I refused to pay.
A few months later I get a invoice along with a threat of a mechanic's lien placed on my property if I don't pay the $500. If I was not about to have my property put on the market I would hire a lawyer to fight this. Seems as though for $25.00 anyone can put a lien on your property weather you have a contract or not.
Please do not hire this company do the job unless you want to be totally scammed.
I will be reporting this company to the CDC and any website I can!!! BEWARE!
I called to get an estimate for mold remediation, the guy gave me a sales pitch, asked a few questions about size of mold affected area,told me they just tare the sheet rock down, vacuum out the mold, spray the area,and throw sheetrock outside for me to discard. then asked me to pay the $795 fee over the phone. I told him I needed the estimate to get the funds for service work. He was supposed to email me the estimate, but never did. I've called several times, nobody will talk to me, sometimes they even answer then hang up on me.I have found another service company.
