I own a small business (yes, brick-n-mortar) in Texas since 2005. We decided to start adding buy/sell gift cards to our repertoire around September of 2016. Used the Raise.com website to sell 2 gift cards (1 transaction). I shipped them out from my location. Raise never paid me - kept giving me the excuse that my Texas Sales Tax License wasn't good enough for them to register me as a business! We're at an impasse. Also BBB in Chicago was ZERO help. Dropped the case without even contacting me. Thank goodness it was only $15 they owed me - glad I didn't get on the hook for hundreds!
New Sellers will have their very first withdrawl cancelled. That's right. If you selected direct deposit (ACH) withdrawl, on the third day, the date of payment (provided your card buyer didn't claim you used the card in other words the best of circumstances where everything went perfectly). It will be automatically cancelled on the date of payment and you will receive an EMAIL asking you the following information below. After completing that you will then have to wait an ADDITIONAL 3 days for your direct deposit. By these obvious and fraudulent business practices, it is assumed, Raise will allow your customers a week to reverse charges.
You will receive nothing. You have no warranty whatsoever with them, they are assuming no risk. ON THE THIRD DAY THE DAY OF PAYMENT THIS WILL BE THE EMAIL YOU RECEIVE. AFTER GIVING RAISE ENOUGH TIME TO ENSURE YOUR CARD IS LOST FOREVER. My name is Peggy and I’m reaching out to you on behalf of the Seller Support Team at Raise.
I see that you recently submitted a payout request, and I’d like to ask you a few questions about the card you’ve listed on Raise: 1. Do you have receipts for this gift card? 2. Do you have the physical card or just the electronic code? 3. How did you receive the card you listed? 4. Do you plan on listing more cards with us in the future?
Please take a picture of your physical card and/or receipts, if available, and attach them to the secure link below. Images cannot be submitted in compressed (zip) format. https://www.raise.com/account/upload/identification Our verification process requires us to ask these questions in order to process payouts for our sellers. This will help us verify and approve your future listings as well. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to your response.
We have purchased many gift cards for one store from Raise.com. The have sold us cards that have been either closed or have a zero balance. Upon receiving the cards we checked the balances and they were all good.
Later when we went to use the cards, they have been used or closed. We contacted via email and phone to have our funds returned to us as soon as each batch of cards was found. Some of them have been refunded that were under 100 days old and some that have been over 100 days old.
They claim that since it is over 100 days they do not have to refund us our money. This is not ok to take ones money and then find out that there is a way to defraud the customer later. Obviously this is happening and we have brought it to there attention multiple times. I have asked multiple times what we can do to avoid this problem, and they say it is on them to fix and find ways to keep it from happening.
They currently have rejected to return our money for 11 store cards that we purchased for $2142.00 and had a value of $2500. We have several more requests to credit our account for another 56 cards for $6858.63 purchased for with a value of $8400. These cards only been referred onto the support team at Raise and not rejected as of yet.
We only want the to credit our account and come up with a system to safeguard against the cards going bad. In the order details is explains the gift cards for this particular store will never expire. This is a tremendous amount of money for our business and we would like to have it returned to us.
So, on December 29th, I order 2 Ebay cards at a 5.1% discount. When I didn't hear anything from them within a day, I looked at my account at the raise.com site. Sure enough; nothing there indicating the purchase. However, when I check my Chase Visa account, there was a pending charge for the $94.90 which was the amount of the charge. When contacting Raise, I was told there was nothing they would do about getting me the cards I had purchased, but if the charge didn't "drop off" within a few days, I should call back. As you may be able to guess, the Ebay cards are now selling at only a 3-4% discount. To make this right, Raise may have incurred a cost of less than $2.00. Based on their response to this small problem, I have very serious concerns how they would handle any "real" problem. My advice when contemplating business with Raise is "Proceed with extreme caution"
