A friend used me as a referral to a Rainbow vaccum salesman in Syracuse, New York. I watched the demonstration that was very lengthy. The product looked like it would be a good fit for me as I am a multiple pet owner so It caught my interst. When I found out the price, I told the sales represntive that it would not be finacially wise for me to purchase the Rainbow at this time; consequently, he informed me about the Rainbow Ride Along Program.
The pogram sounded doable as I had the summer off as I am a teacher. I agrred to the program. Unfortunately, I had trouble finding "leads" because I was uncomfortable asking people very personal questions that should have no baring on weather or not a person would bye a Rainbow.
My representative suggested that I go "carding". Carding occurs when you sign people up for a phony contest. I knocked on a person's door asking them to enter a contest to enter to win a Rainmate. They had to fillout a form than would be notifie that they won a Rainmate that evening. Only those who were maarried couples and home ownwes "won" the Rainmate. Renters and single people were excluded from the "contest" When people were told that they won the Rainmate, I had to tell them that in order to get their prize they needed to sit through the a demonstration of the Rainmate's big brother the Rainbow. It was deceiving because no mention of the demonstration was mentioned when the person entered. If they refused the demonstration, they were denied the prize! This is NOT a CONTEST!
While I knew that I had to figure out a way to get leads, I asked the representitive for help and he told me this is my responsibility. I also reached out to the owner of the frachize but received no help. I asked the ownwer if I could work the booth at the New York State Fair in order to get leads but I was not invited to do so.
Unfortunately, I was not comfortable asking people whom I don't know about their marital status oe weather or not they ownwd property as I find this very discriminatry and too personal in nature.
I am asking for help getting leads so I can fiish the program or a refund and with the ability to return the vaccum. I really tried hard to fufill my end of the deal, hwever, I JUST NEED HELP as I am not in my confort zone discriminating against singles or renters. I also do not want to have people sit through a demonstation to win their Rainmate.
