On 5/8/2018 I reached out to Dave, the owner, for a response to 4-6 ducklings that had fallen into a sewer. He originally spoke to my wife and quoted her $316 and "guaranteed" they would be rescued that night! After many attempts to get him out there, he re-quoted me "at least $360." I said fine, just get here and save these babies. His eta was 830-900 pm but got there around 1030pm. He spend about 90 minutes there but DID NOT RESCUE ONE DUCKLING. Instead, he used his "patented" system that he developed in 89. The goal was to block the drain and "funnel" them into the sewer while blocking their retreat. It was fashioned on the spot with chicken wire and pliers, hardly a patented system. Once he finished and no ducks were saved Dave guaranteed me that "in the morning" they would ALL be in the drain and I could remove them. If he came back, he said he'd have to charge more. He then tried to charge me over $700 for shoddy work and no rescue. I told him I will not pay more than 400. He said ok, but in cash because if anyone else sees he cut me a great deal, they'd want one too.
Well the next day, no ducks and my wife and neighbor pulled the patent system out by hand and were able to rescue 3 of the 6 ducks. My wife had to really pull teeth today to get him to come back out and he still did not get the other 3 out. We requested a refund of $200 because he did respond and he did take time to come and half-a*s the job. Over the weekend my neighbor rescued the others with the exception of one, it died and Dave could've saved them all. The mother rejected them and we were able to bring them to Duck Haven, a small no-kill rescue. She works of SSI and donations.I'd like him to donate the $400 to her, and then I'd like for him to be put out of business.
