This is a company, going by the name of R T & Associates (Robert Timms) that gets ahold of old, uncollected debts, and pose as attorneys trying to collect from you before the "case" goes to court. None of the numbers they call from, including this one, match the numbers on their website, or the numbers they call from. They call from an 800 #, and give you another number to call back on, which appears to be from another state. (They gave my daughter 954-543-5995) When you call back, they don't even give the name of the business, just, "hello, this is So & So, how can I help you?" They sound legitimate, put you on hold to call the entity to whom you supposedly owe the debt, then come back on the line to tell you the party is willing to drop the charges if you pay the debt today in full. There are several tip-offs that this is a scam, the first being their website which has misspelled words (including the name of the city they claim to be in), uncapitalized proper nouns, etc. Not to mention, if they were a legitimate firm, they wouldn't call from random numbers, none of which match the information on their website. R T & Associates is registered in New York, but they're using numbers from other states, such as the one they gave my daughter with a Florida area code. They also contact any friend or family member that show up on a Google search of people who may know you.
