I called Quality Heating in June 2017. My furnace was making a terrible thumping noise. They sent out a service tech to look at my furnace. He told me that my burners were corroded and he cleaned them. He told me he did not understand where the soot outside my cabin was coming from and told me that probably next spring my burners would probably need to be replaced in spring 2018. I was told to keep my pilot on due to condensation all year round. I ended up calling Quality Heating again in November as my fan on my heater was not working properly. It would kick on and off within seconds. I was told at first it was normal and then I was I was told it was my fan switch and they would need to order one. I was told to leave my furnace on which I did and when talked to Jim the service manager and he told me it was in backorder. We set up a date of December 28th that they were suppose to come and replace it. Since this is our cabin we were coming up on December 26th only to find our pilot went out. When I called Jim at Quality Heating asked me if we got it lit. I told him yes, but afterwards our furnace went out at least 6 more times. I called Jim asking if he could please send someone out, but he told me he was too busy with people who had no heat. So what did I have, if my pilot kept going out. He was rude to me. If we left and came back it would be freezing in our cabin as the furnace would go out constantly. Finally after business hours our pilot went out again. This time we had a very difficult time getting it lit. I called Quality Heating Emergency call number and they sent the same guy that was here in June. (Jim denies this is the same guy). Anyways, the furnace repair guy comes in and tells me in front of three other witnesses it is our heat exchanger, it is unsafe to run and we need a new furnace. He went out to his van and gave us 2 tiny heaters at -26 below and it is suppose to keep our cabin warm when the temperature was dropping inside the cabin at a constant pace. The furnace guy left leaving the furnace unlit. Finally, I called a different heating company because I pretty much had it. I had been dealing with this for 6 months and Jim is a very rude sarcastic unprofessional service manager who is socially awkward. How many of the people employed by Quality Heating are actually qualified to fix furnaces? The new furnace company I called in sent out a qualified license furnace tech. He actually took our furnace apart. Here is what we were told. Burners should not be cleaned they should be replaced. It does heat properly and can cause soot in your heat exchanger(s). The thermocouple needed to be replaced and MY HEAT EXCHANGERS WERE NOT CRACKED. He replaced the burners, he replaced the thermocouple, and he replaced the fan switch. I called Jim on December 27th and told him I was not paying for that emergency call as I called in another service company and I did not need a new furnace like I was told. He asked me who I had in there and I told him the name of the company. His comment was you will be sorry! I’m not sorry my furnace worked as great as I did when I bought it. He told me he didn’t have time for me as he had people without heat and needed to attend to his customers. December 29th I brought the two heaters back to Quality as they were not mine. I asked to speak to Jim as I brought the burners and the thermocouple for him to see. He asked me who told me that when burners are corroded you should replace them. I said I did my research and all 4 qualified companies told me the same thing. He literally got pissed at me as he didn’t like what I said and walked away. I spent all this money since June and I never got the furnace fixed properly. If he is a service manager he should know that soot in an heat exchanger is telling you something is not functioning properly instead of pushing me off like I am some dumb idiot. He needs to get a reality check as you can’t go around screwing people out of their money and still run a reliable and honest business. Honesty,reliability, and good attitude is what keeps a business going especially in a small town.
