I contacted Purpleheart Moving to get costs on a move from CA to AZ around the first week of Feb. I spoke to their Rep Bate and he gave me a verbal of $5000 for the move. He emailed me a blank form to list items to move. I filled it in and emailed it back. He called me the next day to tell me the cost to move was now $9000.
I said okay and he sent me a contract to sign and for a deposit of half the cost roughly over $4000 which I paid with a credit card. A week before we moved I contacted Purpleheart to go over the logistics of the move. I was then told the cost to move was now $14,000. I immediately cancelled the contract and sent them an email cancelling.
They emailed back confirming cancellation. I hired another mover for $11,000. A month later, and Purple Heart will not refund my $4000 plus deposit! They say I signed a contract. I signed a contract based on the move being $9000. I did not sign a contract on a move that was going to cost $14,000. I called my credit card company but they are unable to help.
I called Purpleheart and they laughed at me! This company does this on a regular basis. I’ve seen reports on the web where they increase cost 70% after the contract is signed!! This is a sham. Can you please help me get my deposit back?
