Pura Vida Bracelets Reviews
Although I was at-first happy to contribute 5% of my purchase price to "MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS" (in any country) by purchasing 2 packs with each pack containing 3 separate bracelets for $64.00,
I am deeply sorry that I was lured by slick marketing photos and promises to help fund worthy causes.
I was surprisingly shocked by the low quality and poor condition of the MHA bracelet packs delivered to me - bracelets actually looked USED:
The FIRST child-sized, sea-foam colored bracelet consists of a single braid with 3 white plastic beads in shape of quartz crystals bookended with a tiny metallic plastic bead. The bracelet itself is inexplicably dirty, darkened especially around the main knot and each end knots. It appears the plastic (or wax?) covering the string at the main knot has melted or tightened so hard it cannot be expanded for wear without destruction of the bracelet.
The SECOND child-sized bracelet consists of 3 light blue, 3 white and 3 sea-foam colored dirty strings that are not braided but simply 2 single plastic or wax-covered strings that are twisted together as 'rope.' Again the dirty main knot is melted/tightened together and unusable for wear.
The THIRD child-sized bracelet consists of nine white 2-string 'ropes' with a single, tiny metallic plastic bead adorning each, and again, the ridiculously-knotted bracelet cannot be expanded for wear.
The second MHA pack is just slightly less dirty-looking but nothing you would slip onto your wrists!
I was charged a mystery Nevada county tax (?) on top of Nevada state tax.
MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS appears to be interchangeable with MENTAL HEALTH AMERICA at Pura Vida so who knows who is getting 5% donations.
The entire transaction has delivered a blow to my faith in good people; a bad taste in both mouth and wallet, and a definite “UGH” to my psyche.
I firmly stand in unity with workers from El Salvador and India where these products were made— but I will forever denounce greed of ex-pat founders of Costa Rica who do business out of La Jolla, Calif.— Shameful people who will not avoid karma! Never will I recommend Pura Vida for any reason.
I ordered bracelets from Pura Vida. The first order was received in a timely manner. I have been waiting over a month and a half for the second order. No one responds to the numerous emails I have left. The voicemail is always full. If you manage to leave a voicemail, your call is never returned. I did fill a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. They responded by saying their was a system issue the day I had placed my order. They then said they shipped me two bracelets, that were not on backorder. The DHL tracking number they provided is 33 digits. Per DHL their tracking numbers are 10 digits. And on the Pura Vida website this order is still in their warehouse. This company lies and are deceitful. They have many complaints for their horrendous customer service.
Pura Vida Bracelet Company ripped me off!
I was so excited to go on line and shop for Black Friday Specials on this site. One of my daughters had ordered a year earlier and loved the products.I thought what better way to give gifts than something they would love, having five daughters. Unfortunately, i have never been so disappointed in my life over this experience!
On November 29th, my credit card was charged $67. I received a shipping confirmaton it was on its way, hurray!...Nope. December 5th received an email, sorry for the delay, due to the Christmas season, but it is still on its way, Yeah!...Nope. So I tracked my order online the following week when no package arrived. DHL says it shipped and is on it's way to USPS, where as of today December 20th, still not received by the post office.
I have called Pura Vida 34 times, for the past week and as of today... no one answers the phone, or returns "messages" you are suppose to leave. I have never been so irritated by a shopping exerience and I am a mother of 5 girls who has gone shopping in malls with all of them!
So, it seems impossible to get any kind refund or my package form this company that ignores its paying customers and claims to have some profits or jobs worldwide to help?? What a joke. A sad joke. This company will never get my business again and east coasters....beware!
I placed a $100 order for bracelets on Black Friday and received my package on December 1. Half of the order was correct; the other half was not. I also received a handful of items I did not order. I immediately called and a recording came on asking me to leave my name and number. That was almost three weeks ago, and to date no one has returned my call.
I then contacted Pura Vida via email and corresponded with them for a number of days to try to straighten out my order. Unfortunately, my missing items were out of stock, so I was asked to pick out replacement items or receive a refund. I chose the refund and on December 14th was credited $41 for the items I did not receive.
One of the missing items was a vanilla snowflake bracelet, which i really wanted. I also ordered a gray snowflake bracelet and did not receive that one either. Because the vanilla snowflake was available, they were going to send it out to me at no charge. They filled the order and sent me a copy of the invoice via email and right away I noticed it was not correct. The invoice showed they were shipping a vanilla butterfly bracelet. I immediately responded via email and said the order is not correct. I never received a response and today I received the package. Lo and behold, it was not the snowflake bracelet, or the butterfly bracelet but a key charm bracelet that I don't want. At this point, can't anybody read or fill an order correctly for one lousy item??
I have corresponded on Facebook with a number of other people who are experiencing problems with their Black Friday orders. People are saying they have received incorrect invoices and orders, non-shipment of items and tracking numbers provided to them are invalid. Many people ordered the items for Christmas gifts and are saying how disappointed they are and will never order from Pura Vida again. These people feel they have been taken advantage of and some are contacting their bank to dispute the charges.
I'm not sure how or why Pura Vida is getting away with shipping incomplete and incorrect orders, not returning phone calls or responding to emails. They are careless, sloppy, nonresponsive and not reliable. Their company practices are unacceptable and this is no way to run a company or treat their customers!
Pura Vida is a horrible scam waiting in areas of tourists to steal your money and ruin your hard earned vacation time. If you are asked to take a tour with them, quickly go the other direction.
While on my honeymoon, my new bride and I took a tour with one of their representatives. After the tour, we sat for three hours at the sales presentation. The salesman was very aggressive and attempted to close me the entire time. When I pled with him that we just want to leave the meeting, he embarrassed me by asking my wife "is he the type of man you want to be with? A man that will put you in that dump of a resort you are at, for your honeymoon?" We promptly stood and left.
After we left the room, we were met by a manager that questioned why we were leaving. I responded with the last sentence the salesman uttered. He apologized and asked us to sit with him while we fill out their survey. During the survey, he began closing.
The manager and I came to the agreement that they would move us to their nicest resort for free and wrote up a "voucher" that showed a value of $1,000. With that "vouture" we could move to the nicer resort. I aslo agreed to pay $500 down with monthly payments totaling $110. For me to sign that, I was going to get 2 FREE cruises and the Book that contained their thousands of resorts worldwide to choose from for our future vacations.
So, my wife and I went back to our resort, packed our bags and waited for the concierge that never showed up. We called, they sent another concierge, that never showed up. Then, I took a cab back to the resort the meeting took place, and there was nobody there. I realized I had been scammed.
Upon returning to the states, I recieved a phone call. Again, apologizing for the awful experience and promising to get things corrected. At this point, I noticed that the $110 dollars began leaving my bank account every month. These payments went on for a year and I never received anything. To date, they have taken over a large sum of money from me and when I finally spoke to them, I was told I needed to give tham another $1000 to re-activate my membership.
Again, if you are approached by any person selling vacations while on vacation...run, don't walk, run away from them. I am still unaware of how they can still be in business.
I am very disappointed and saddened to have to say how deceitful this company has been. Since placing a few orders with them since Black Friday, I was immediately charged, sent shipping confirmations, and items never showed up. On two different orders, I emailed them because it is impossible to get through to them via phone, and I received generic responses about looking into the orders, then confirming they were shipped, when indeed they were not according the their tracking numbers. They hadnt left the shipper yet. Lost in transit! They ask if they can reorder for me, but go on to tell me ALL of the items I ordered are now out of stock or back ordered! At this point I am mad because I have been charged, my orders tell customer service they have been processed and shipped, yet tracking says they have not, and now I can't get anything I originally wanted. I am sick over this because THESE ITEMS WERE GOING TO BE GIVEN TO GIRLS WHO ARE DYING AND ARE SICK!!!!!! ALL THEY ASKED FOR CHRISTMAS WAS PURA VIDA BRACELETS!!! On Tues. 12/8, I was able to get through to a Sharon in customer service, who said she could try and piece together all the items I had ordered. She 'seemed' to care to help me and said she finally had it all together and would ship all the bracelets out to me asap and the shipping confirmation would come as soon as we got off the phone. Guess what? I never got the shipping confirmation OR the bracelets! I am sad, mad, angry that this company has been so dishonest and hasn't followed through on anything! They need to be checked out and watched before they take advantage of anyone else. This Pura Vida is apopular bracelet company which cannot be trusted and has awful customer service. I will now try and demand my $ back. But it wasnt about the money in the first place, it was about giving bracelets to girls who won't be alive next Christmas!!!! Shame on you, Pura Vida Bracelets!!!! :(
