Psych Recovery, Inc. Reviews

I went to Psych Recovery, Inc. (Court International Building, 2550 University Ave. W., #229N, St. Paul, MN 55114 - phone 651-645-3115) for about 5 years (from February 2014-Feb. 2019). I worked with an in-network (Medica ACO) therapist throughout that time.

The Clinic Administrator at Pscyh Recovery (and/or her staff) failed to renew my therapist’s paperwork with my insurance provider, Medica. Consequently she [my therapist] fell out of network January 2019.

Apparently, the setup is this: Therapists independently contract with Psych Recovery to take care of their billing.

Thinking that my therapist was still "in-network" I’d been blithely paying my $20 co-pays, thinking that this was everything I owed. Then, at the end of March, I received a bill that totalled over $2,500.

I immediately cancelled my future appointments. Apparently, I wasn’t alone. Per my therapist, she no longer practices there as a result of what they did to her.

I have requested that they file the paperwork appropriately and then resubmit the claims.

My written request was ignored. I've received only stony silence in reply, except a form letter telling me that my provider will no longer be practicing there. I also saw a psychiatrist there form anti-depressant medication management. Because of the billing dispute, I was told that I would be unable to schedule a future appointment (a quarterly update) with my psychiatrist.

In short, because of incompetence in their billing my mental healthcare has been derailed.

It takes a long time to establish a productive relationship with a mental health counselor. I will now need to start from scratch.

It can take months to get in to see a psychiatrist. I was able to find a new one in my insurance company's network providers who was willing to see me. Fortunately, I was proactive about this, because the wait time for an appointment was three months.

So what we have here is an impasse over a bill that only ever existed because of Psych Recovery's mishandling their insurance paperwork which they refuse to settle. They've interferred with my ability to pursue my mental health treatment. They've cause a great many headaches and forced me to spend hours disputing their mistakes. As of this date - three and a half months after their initial mistake - they are still insisting that I pay over $2,500 that I should never have been accused of owing.

As a side-note, I should have investigated them before I went there. I noticed that they are not accredited by the Better Business Bureau.
