Pronto Home Repairs Reviews

  • Feb 1, 2018

Pronto Home Repairs gave me an initial quote of $1,013 to repair damages to my staircase resulting from from carpet installers installing new carpeting. I had concern over their methods of estimating by reading previous reviews other customers had written up saying that the actual costs turned out to be significantly higher than the quoted costs. Foolishly, I still sought out their services. I expressed my concern to Guy, the estimator, who said they worked hard to clean this problem up. As a precaution, I had Guy come out twice to obtain a second quote for the same job. He even FaceTimed on both occasions with his supervisor, I believe to be Sebastian, to assure there was no discrepancy with the first quote. It was in line with the first quote.

The only thing that changed was that I decided to do the painting myself, thereby, reducing the second quote to just over $700. I submitted the first bid of $1,013 to the carpet installers seeking reimbursement for the repairs I would need to pay Pronto. Guy knew I was relying on his quote and that it was being submitted to the carpet installers for reimbursement. In fact, it was only after I got the reimbursement that I would hire Pronto. When the job was scheduled and the handyman came out to do the repairs, I again asked before he started whether the job could be done for the quoted amount of $700. He said absolutely not. He discussed the problem with Sebastian, who moments later called me saying that the quote of $700 was no longer feasible and that the new quote was $2,700 (nearly four times the quote of $700).

To this point, Pronto Home Repair has shown an unwillingness to budge on their $2,700. Normally, it would not be an issue, but I relied heavily on their quote of $1,013, and Guy knew this. As a result, if I let Pronto do the home repair, I would be out of pocket nearly $1,700 because of their inabilityto do a proper job estimate not once, but twice. Sebastian fails to recognize that Pronto should accept some of the blame for faulty estimations because he feels as long as Pronto has not done any work, they are not responsible. Something needs to be done about their continued inability to accurately quote jobs and to short-change customers.
