Professional Sports Authenticator Reviews

I had cards graded by them and spent $600. They sent a fedex package back to the wrong address, which were returned to them. Now i cannot get in touch with anyone at the company via email or phone. Evidently this is a common scam they perform to keep cards for themselves. Many bad reviews online. Wish i would have known this ahead of time. They are THE authority for grading so it is a monopoly.

Gave this company cards to be graded and payment on 7/13 - several phone calls seeking when the job might be done - date pushed ahead with each call.Cards received back 9/11 not graded with no explanation. Payment not returned.

This company has a good reputation and I trusted them to do a good job for me and was totally frustrated and disappointed with the whole was this thing turned out. Will never deal with them again

I have a relatively large sports card collection (approx. 5,000 cards) that I have been collecting since the late 60's. For the last year and a half I have been sorting my cards and educating myself on card values. I took 2 of my cards that I intended to have graded by PSA to various card shows to find out if what I believed the card grades to be was reasonable. The concensus was that an 8 or 8.5 per card seemed right. Nothing to yell out "I won the lottery" but good enough to get a few bucks if sold. After my cards were graded by PSA I looked online and saw that the cards had a grade of 5 and 6 respectively. After receiving the cards I knew immediately that they weren't the same cards sent in. For one thing, I have 3 of one of the cards that I sent in and 4 of the other. Of the 7 not all were worth sending in. But the others were very similar in condition basically a toss-up of which to submit. One of the cards returned to me had three minor but noticeable creases on 3 of the corners. It also had a print defect on the front and centering on back tapered from approx. 15% to about 60% from one side of the card to the other. A definite grade of 5 but not my card! I 100% believe that PSA switches out higher end for lower end. Maybe high end dealers haven't seen this to be true because rare cards would be very hard to switch due to limited numbers. Hence, they don't get cheated. I understand that a class action suit may be looked at. That would be great. Doesn't PSA realize that if that were to happen, when the plastic holders are opened the owners DNA wouldn't be on the card because it's not their card?

PSA/DNA out of Cuck-ville Newport Beach Liberalfornia has to be THE largest card grading scam the world has ever know. There are many card grading companies around today. Guess who charges the most? PSA. Guess who charges the most in shipping? PSA. Guess who take your money and blames you for THEIR mistake? PSA. Guess who takes 3 weeks to even OPEN your package. PSA.

First off, their email is a joke. "Due to the high volume of packages..." BLAH BLAH BLAH. They have been saying this for years!!! Are we as the customer suppose to feel bad that PSA cannot keep up with the volume of packges and orders? IF YOU CANT HANDLE IT EITHER CLOSE DOWN OR HIRE MORE PEOPLE. Then they blame to customer for not writing on the package the return structure? Its like rocket sciene to the peope who work here. So they do not respond to emails, I have sent 2-3 waited over a month and no response. The phone number is just as bad. You will wait, and wait, and wait....Then, if you are lucky enough to get ahold of someone and I was looking for someone in particular due to a damged card (I will explain later) "Oh shes not in right now but I will have her get ahold of you and call you back" SURE. FYI they wont call you back becuase they dont care and only want the green in your wallet/purse.

Another quick story before I get to my main story. I once sent them a Pokemon card that was a First Edition and it came right from the pack. It was a flawless card that had no issues. I sent it in the first time. They gave it a 9 Mint. I got it back, cracked it and sent it again because I was saying this card is not a 9, its a 10. I DID THIS 3 TIMES! FINALLY on the 4th try they all of a sudden said "huh yea I guess it is a ten afterall." It took me 4 times and 60+ dollars later to finally get the grade it deserved. This goes to show, how unqualifed and unprofessional they are when they grade cards. There grades are all over the place the inconsistency makes me sick.

My main story goes as follows. I pulled a holographic pokemon card from a pack that was flawless again as well along with 10 other cards. I paid extra money for a faster turn around service. It took them over a week to even open my package then an additional 3 weeks to grade them when it was suppose to be under 10 days!

then I recieve a call from a manager saying that they damaged the holo card upon sealing, but its ok! because we gave it a 9 mint before damging the card so we will send you a check for 400 dollars. SO lets think about this for a minute. Out of 11 cards I sent in they damged the most valuable card by over $2000??? I paid extra money just for this one card because I was absolutely sure it was going to get a Gem Mint 10. But apprentlly PSA said no its a 9 Mint. SOUNDS LIKE BS TO ME. I personally believed that they didnt want to say "hey we gave it a PSA 10 before we damged it so its ok we will be sending you a check for $2000. No, instead it some how recieved a 9 before they damged it so they wouldnt have to pay out of pocket more money to me. The facts about this card and situation dont add up.

-Held onto the card for over 2 weeks longer than they should have

-Out of 11 cards they damged the most valuable card that should of been handle with extra caution.

-The one card that I have ever paid extra money for because I was so sure that it was going to receive a PSA 10 Gem Mint, PSA SUPPOSEDLY gave it a 9 Mint upon damaging it.

-After this situation they have never answered my phone calls or emails after multiple times.

THEY SCAMED ME AND MANY OTHERS AND SHOULD BE TAKEN TO COURT!!! BEWARE

They only give real good grades to people or friends who pay them extra money. If you go on Ebay you will see graded cards that are less better then yours but yet they will have better grades. I found out after the fact that they scam a lot of people! Then they charged my credit card more then they said they would. I have never seen such a nightmare in all my life!

PSA/DNA is supposedly the top autograph authenticators in the world. For years I have had what I thought was a Marilyn Monroe picture signed by her. I needed cash so I checked on line and they were selling for 10K to 40K each. So I started to wonder if it was authentic. So a dealer told me to send it to PSA/DNA for authentication and if it was real they would buy it wholesale for $9500. PSA/DNA claimed to use microscopes and high frequency lights and many other high tech equipment in their facilities.

So, I paid the fee of $506 and sent it in for authentication. The contacted me and told me it was real. They gave it an online verification number of AA02766. psacard.com/cert/aa02766/.

So I went on EBay and sold the item for $10,200 dollars which was a quick sale as I needed the money. In fact, buyers were contacting me directly asking me to take it off of EBay to sell it directly. I didn't want to do anything unethical so I kept it on EBay for the short bidding period. I needed to pay some bills.

When the money arrived I paid my bills and shipped the item. The buyer, an autograph dealer received the item and called me very angry. He said the item was a facsimile of the real item. He wanted his money back. I was in shock. I had spent the money and could not return it. EBay did however return the money to the buyer and he sent the picture back to me.

When I called PSA/DNA they said it is virtually impossible for them to make a mistake especially if it was a facsimile. They told me if they made that kind of mistake they would pay my damages and refund the $10,200 to the buyer.

I sent it to PSA/DNA and they said they would look at it again. It was supposed to take 7 days. For almost two months I didn't receive any returned calls. Then, I got a call saying they were sorry but the item was a facsimile and not a real signature. They offered to give me my initial fee back and a $1500 dollar credit on future authentications.

EBay and Pay Pal have now shut me down, canceled my business with them and are suing me for the refund. I am in collections and now my credit is being ruined. PSA/DNA still refuses to pay the damages required to make me whole. I would suggest you do not use this company if you want a real expert try anywhere else. These guys are really incompetent.

I have been dealing with an issue with PSA/DNA for one year now. I have logged complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the Attorney General in New Jersey, the Attornet General in New York, and I just learned that by Civil Case in New Jersey is being dismissed and needs to be refiled in California.

Over a year ago, I personally dropped off a rare sports collectible at PSA/DNA's office in Woodbridge, New Jersey. I had an intake meeting with a PSA/DNA employee, who examined the collectible (a rare ticket), and noted no damage or nothing unusual about the ticket. PSA/DNA took care and custody of the ticket at that time.

Some 10 weeks later when the item was returned, it had several damage areas. One top indent, a mid size rip that went half way thru the ticket, and a crease, depression that runs some 2 plus inches. None of these defects were present.

These damages are so severe, that the item is really worthless. It almost feels like the damage was intentional, it would hard to explain how a tear nearly half way thru the ticket could have occured.

PSA/DNA claims they did not damage this item. They stand behind the fact that they have camera data to support this. Yet, now one year later they have yet to product one single piece of camera data.

And becuase of my complaint of damage, they have deleted Population tracking information (data they claim they keep on all items, and is used to by customers worldwide as a gauge of rarity and potential value of an item). PSA/DNA has lost integrity with the deletion of this data. This action is unethical. Who decided to delete this data? When do they delete data? How can this data be trusted? And they deleted population data on 4 other tickets I had submitted. PSA/DNA is the definition of a bully. Complain and expect to have your opulation data deleted. Nice, huh.

Never expect to get any statisfaction from a complaint with PSA/DNA. Read their Terms and Conditions closely. Note in their terms and conditions, they state any and all legal actions would need to be in Orange County, Ca. Even if you dropped off your items in New Jersey.

Now I have to fly from New York to California go make things right. And with PSA/DNA I can expect them to try delays, throw up road blocks, and make it difficult for arrange a flight. And when I win, PSA/DNA will appeal the decision, so I would expect to have to make a second trip. There must be a better alternative to getting my Sports Memorbilia graded and authenitcated.
