This company is terrible. I ordered a product which I needed within 2 weeks for a wedding. The guy on the phone, Nick, assured me I'd have it by then. He said he'd send me an update on the order within 2 days. Four days later and nothing. I called ProAudioStar over 20 times with no one picking up. I emailed Nick 3 times with no response.
Finally, on the 9th day, someone picked up the phone. His name was Billy. He told me I would receive my order in about 3 weeks. I couldn't even get Nick on the phone even though he was at the location. After fighting with Billy, having him come up with no ideas, I finally got him to agree to a full refund. Except he needs to reach the manufacturer before he can start the refund process.
When I asked him when I should hear back from him, he said, "Hopefully next week." Seriously? Hopefully next week? These people are from New York, but their pace is more like Huck Finn floating down the Mississippi. You can buy from ProAudioStar if you don't really need the item in the next couple months. Otherwise, forget it.
Do not buy from this company! However good the deal may seem, it is not worth it. These scam artists will do nothing but waste your time.
I purchased a pair of b-stock active studio monitors that were supposed to be in perfect condition. They arrived to me badly damaged. While it is possible that they may have been damaged in transit, there were a couple of things that made me suspicious. It was obvious that neither box contained all of the original packing material, and one of them hardly had any protecting foam around the speaker at all. Neither box included a power cable, and one also did not include the manual/warranty/etc.
I sent an email and left a voice message with proaudiostar, neither of which were returned. I was eventually able to get someone on the phone who sent me shipping labels and promised me a full refund. I packed the speakers up again as best as I could, slapped the shipping labels on them, and dropped them off with FedEx.
I watched the tracking number for the FedEx shipment and saw that they made it back to proaudiostar successfully. However, this is where the real trouble started. It took three and a half weeks from the time they arrived back to proaudiostar for the company to finally issue me a refund. During this time I sent numerous emails, which were never returned. I left numerous voicemails without ever receiving a returned call. The times that I was actually able to get someone on the phone, I was lied to again and again. I was given a new excuse about why the refund hadn't been issued every time I spoke with someone.
On at least 4 occasions over that 3.5 week period I was promised that the refund had been issued, and that it would simply take 1-2 business days for it to appear in my account. Again and again this turned out not to be true.
It was only after threatening to take them to court that I finally received my refund.
I've had a terrible experience. First, after ordering a used guitar pedal I received no confirmation email or tracking number. It took me multiple emails and a paypal complaint to get the tracking number, and it took a full week to arrive.
First try out of the box, the pedal was hosed. Didn't work at all, and I suspect they knew it. Why? because they've ignored multiple direct emails, and submissions from their 'contact us' form, as well as comments on the paypal issue item. A decent business would work with their clients, even on a used item. They'll chime in on your complaint periodically so it looks like they give a s**t. obviously, They don't.
Maybe they do enough local business to not give a sh@t about internet orders.. who knows. I should have paid more attention to the low ratings, and not the high ratings(many of which are from 'anonymous' people.)
And you won't get them on the phone. I tried, multiple times. Someone answered in sales once, and immediately put me to their bs voicemail system. They won't call you back.
I've since filed a complaint with the BBB, and I'm sure that'll do nothing for me and my money's gone, just like many others I've read about. They have an F rating and typically don't respond to the complaints. Just hit the web and read the lower reviews. The good reviews are mostly bull, bots, and probably friends of theirs.
