Priceline Moving And Storage, INC. Reviews
This site doesn't allow more info in its forms, but the moving company, Priceline Moving and Storage, is actually just a cheap broker and hides themselves via the use of many addresses and virtual phone numbers. They use different company names, they operate other "moving companies", they engage in fraudulent business practices, they use bait-and-switch chemes to extort money from people, and they will threaten holding your goods hostage if they don't get their money.
The "owners", Ciara Dixon and Chris Dixon, have had many years of complaints from all of their entities. Despite various sites advertising them as being in business for 10 years or 12 years (depending on the site), they appear to have been running these businesses for less than 5 years, and they've had complaints for all the years of operation.
They've also been the subject of a fairly recent Atlanta TV news investigation when a couple reported what happened to them, which was typical of many customers: significant price gouging upon delivery where they triple the cost and threaten non-delivery of goods.
In our case, they gave us a non-binding "binding" quote. (That should have been a red flag right there.) At the end of the pickup, they tripled the price. Half of our stuff was already taken so I had little ability to argue. Also, the pickup company, Supreme Moving and Storage (which shadily shrugged off my questions about the different company names) also wanted to negotiate the price on paper versus the actual payment in order to put more money in his pocket. I never received an inventory list even though they were tagging everything.
In regards to the pickup, lots of horrendous detail, but I'll summarize it here:
1) The moving company showed up hours late in the afternoon with a rental truck that was too small.
2) They claimed they had a trailer to haul more but it was "broken".
3) They literally hired a guy off the street, right in front of me!! (I didn't realize that's what happened until about 3 hours later.)
4) They didn't order another truck to complete the move the same day and they only had three guys for a 5 man move, and one left after about 5 hours and never came back.
5) They came back the second day over 7 hours late at around 6pm with more than 50% of the move still to go, and only the driver and the off-the-street guy where there!
6) Hours into the move, we had paid for cleaners to come in but they couldn't do their job.
7) These guys ran out of blankets and plastic wrap.
8) By midnight, I had to help move stuff because we needed to be out in the morning!!
9) The pickup wasn't completed until 7am and we still had to clean the place!!!
10) The final bill I was handed by the driver was more than triple the original quote!!! They cut it down to over $9000. Then the driver started negotiating the price on paper versus the actual payment in order to put more money in his pocket. Unbelievable!!
The delivery was just as bad:
1) We gave 25 days notice of our move in date to Priceline Moving and Storage.
2) The deliver truck arrived 10 days late, in the afternoon.
3) A day before the delivery, Priceline Moving (David) insisted that we had to pay another $3100 even though I paid the full moving price up front according to their documents.
4) Before the driver arrived, he said that I owed $3100. It was finally worked out that I didn't owe any extra.
4) On the plus side, there were 6 guys.
5) They wouldn't allow me to touch anything as they were unloading it because, the guy who claimed to be the supervisor said, they had to check things off of the inventory list.
6) 5 hours later, it turns out that there was no inventory list and they were not chekcing anything and they claimed they had no idea if anything was missing.
7) Boxes came outcrushed.
8) They tried to move some stuff around to hide that it was damaged. Some stuff was destroyed.
9) A few hours in, we were finding stuff missing, including some very large items. In all we ended up finding at least 80 items missing.
10) These guys were not assembling stuff, but that is what we paid for. They also lost hardware so could not assmeble some things.
11) It's possible that the contracted driver, also not affiliated with Priceline Moving, could have simply left some of our stuff out in order to get another paid load on his truck. (He had three loads. He gets paid for each load. The third load at that back would not have fit had the rest of our stuff been packed in the truck.)
All in all, we've lost thousands of dollars worth of stuff, they appear to not have insurance, they damaged many items, we have no bikes for our kids, all of years worth of unique Christmas ornaments made by our kids are lost, all Christmas decorations are lost, none of our Halloween stuff made it, some expensive furniture is incomplete, my special computer workbench is missing, our brand new outdoor grill is gone, pots and pans are all missing,... The list goes on and on and on.
They cost us more money in cleaning costs, more money in temporary housing costs, and more money than any other moving company that we got quotes from.
I'm not sure if the Dixon family is together or working separately, but they both need to be in jail for fraud.
The sad thing is that, likely, they will simply get to continue to operate as long as they don't mess with the wrong person or company.
I was ripped off by Priceine Moving and Storage . They stole my deposit and did not provide me the moving service that was promised. On June 8th I signed a contract stating that Priceline will be able to move all of my household goods at the price of $ 1550.00. I was to pay $465 deposit to book the reservation and secure the truck and $580 when they loaded the household goods on the truck and $505 when it was delivered to my new address. I told the sells person Romeo Pereze excatly everthing I needed to move and he said 410 cf will be able to accomadate all my household goods. So we set a pick up date for Sunday11 2017. When the truck arrived the truck driver told me there was not enough space to transport all my household good. I advised the truck drivers Priceline Moving & Storage will be able to fit all my items. The truck driver call back to the Priceline moving company and explained the situation. The truck driver said the manager Mike said they can move my thing for $600 more. The price jumped from $1550 to $2150. This was not our agreement. Priceline Moving and Storage signed contract stating they will be able to move all my things. I immediately advised I was not going pay addition 4600, when I agree to pay another amount of 1550.I refused to pay and the truck drive drove off with out providing me service. I called the company and spoke with Mike and Anthony. I called twice . The first time I called he hung up on me. The second time I called he told me I had to pay 600 more. I told him I wanted my money back becuasue services were not provided to me. He refused to give me my money my refund .I have contacted the BBB and Us Department of transportation Federal motor Carrier and file a complaint against this compnay. The address that Priceline Moving and storage provided are 6479 Peachtree Industrial blvd, Atlanta,30360 and 2345 Peachtree Industrial blvd 30360. I looked up these address. Both of these address are NOT registered to Priceline Moving and Storage . The company lists a fraud address which does not belong to them. I have reached out the city of Gwinnett, Doravill and Atlant and can not find a business license formation. Priceline Moving and Storage company is a fraudalent and theift company. They bank drafted $465 out of my account and did not provide me service
When I filled out a form online to ship some furniture, I got a lot of calls from shipping brokers. The first call was from James at Priceline Moving and Storage. He was quite friendly, the price was reasonable - not too high or too low - and he talked me out of taking other quotes.
The $375 deposit had to be paid with a bank draft. Credit card was not a option. I provided the information for the bank draft. A week went by before I heard back from him that there was a problem with the bank draft. I was 800 miles from home at the place where the furniture was to be picked up when James called, the day before the scheduled pickup. I was not able to deal from there with whatever problem there was with the bank draft.
Then, suddenly, James was willing to charge the deposit on a credit card, so I did. The company it went to was called MSS Marketing, 1860 NE 158th St, North Miami Beach, FL, 33162. He insisted on DocuSign. Reading off the account number to him on the phone wouldn't work for Priceline. although plenty of credit card transactions are done that way.
The movers picked up the load. Then I didn't hear from them for 2 weeks.
Eventually the load arrived in good condition, no damage.
A month later, when looking at my bank statement, I found that the bank draft had gone through, so I was charged the $375 twice. If I hadn't seen that before the credit card bill was due, I would have paid it and had no recourse. I contacted James and he said he would take care of it and send a check. A couple of weeks went by. No check was received. Then James said the comptroller had dropped the check off at the post office. 15 days later, the check still didn't arrive.
James got nasty in the next email saying that he could keep the extra $375 if he wanted to because I "signed off" on it. The BBB wouldn't believe my story. He got very huffy about my accusation that he lied to me about the bank draft. All he had to do was cancel the credit card transaction but he refused. I contested the charge -it took over an hour on the phone and preparing the documentation - and the credit card company put a hold on the charge.
James has not responded to any communication from me since then.
The credit card charges were disputed twice and appear to have been dropped.
My family and I were moving from Atlanta, GA to Jacksonville, FL area. After speaking with a couple of companies, we spoke with Priceling Moving and Storage in Atlanta, GA. The salesperson whose name is James spent an hour on the phone with my wife. He had my wife walk through the house and describe what was in every room. This seemed like a detailed process. He gave us a quote which was roughly equal to renting a U-Haul and some cheap help. James told my wife "they wouldn't stick us with a higher bill like the other guys". They would do a full service with wrapping and some assembly. All seemed fine.
The contract they provided had a pickup date scheduled on a Friday, with Saturday as a fallback. It stated that they would pack and drive to Florida the same day. The quote was $1700.
This included
wrapping and protecting items
disassembling some of our belongings, such as beds and desks
moving our belongings from a 1700 sq ft house into a truck
driving the truck 375 miles
moving and re-assembling
This seemed like a good deal. We paid the $525 deposit.
During the week before the move, we didn't get any phone calls to confirm the day or time. We tried calling and emailing James, and didn't get any replies. This was infuriating. We finally got James on the phone on Thursday, and he said the driver would call us asap. Friday arrived and nobody called us. I emailed James and didn't get a reply.
Saturday morning we got a call from the foreman whose name is "Junior". He stated that they would need to hold on to our stuff for a week !! I told him this wouldn't work, and to stand by for a couple of hours, because we were going to try and find someone else. I immediately called James. He didn't answer. I left 2 messages in the course of 45 minutes. I also texted that we are ready to cancel. He texted me back that they will pickup today, and drive tomorrow. So now, our deal is a Saturday pickup and a Sunday delivery. I told him this sounds good, as it would be very difficult to schedule another move with less than 24 hour notice.
Saturday afternoon, the movers showed up at 4pm, which is pretty late. The movers did the job which was agreed. After the truck was full, "Junior" pulled me towards the truck and walked along the outside of the truck with the door already closed and counted 1,2,3.. 14, 15. I wasn't sure what this meant. The tone of his voice became aggressive. He said "follow me, we have to talk" . He laid out some papers and described how we had "much more stuff" than was estimated. I understand these things happen, so I didn't argue. He went on to tell me that the $1700 bill was now $5200 !! He was very agressive about getting money orders and cash right away. He made it seem like they wouldn't drive the next day unless I agreed. Not everyone can pull that kind of money together on a minute notice.
Luckily, I have the money in savings, and I didn't want to risk having my baby without a crib, so I agreed, and signed the papers. After they left, I felt terrible. I've never been pushed around like this before. The movers showed up at the agreed time in Florida. One of the guys was agressive about getting money orders for payment. I thought about paying them less than the $5200 and disputing the rest, but, I decided to pay it in full, and forget about this terrible experience.I've never felt so harrassed and bullied in my life. I can't believe they would threaten to hold someone's belongings for a week, and demand thousands of dollars more than expected, especially from a family with a 9 month old baby. They sure made it seem like they would play dirty until they got my money too.Stay away from Priceline Moving ! They had to change their name from Prestige Moving because their online repuatation became filled with bad reviews. Priceline Moving and Storage is a Scam !
I used the Internet and was contacted by several companies and then began negotiations with ‘Priceline Moving & Storage’, Atlanta, GA - US DOT 2632688 & MC916414 - 855-405-6336. The Sales Rep was Josh Richardson .
Durg the negotiations, requiring an extensive telephone conversations across what was to be moved, I advised Josh the items were in a storage unit 10x25x10 in Hardeeville, SC and came out of a two bedroom, 2 bath house of approximately 1700 square feet. We had multiple telephone calls & text messages which began on Jan 10, 2017 and were finalized on January 12, 2017 under Job No. P792114 for a moving estimate of $2,505.17. The pickup at the storage unit was scheduled for Friday, January 20, 2017 with a backup date of Saturday January 21, 2017.
Before the finalization of the negotiations, I was initially not able to open the move quote document which had been forwarded to my email, Josh stated “... not to worry about it… the driver will do an itemized listing” and he would have me sign the necessary paperwork at the point of pickup.. However, with some amount of effort, I eventually was finally able to open the document containing the quote. After looking it over, I immediately called Josh to let him know that the “Estimated Volume” was ‘incorrect’ and an item count of 90 items was not accurate. Again, Josh assured me “...that it was only an estimate and the driver would do the inventory and listing of items”; I needed to go ahead and make a payment to “lock-in” the move date. Priceline sent over a link to make a 20% down payment which I completed the same day of Jan 12,2017 for $525.37 charged to my credit card.
As I currently live in Bradenton, FL, I traveled to Hardeeville, SC on Thursday, January 19th, to be in place for the movers on January 20th. I received a call on Thursday afternoon, January 19th, from the Priceline Dispatcher - missed their initial call but returned their call and spoke with them at 3:45PM. In that call they stated that the pickup would be on Saturday, Jan 21 between 11:00am - 2:00PM, not the original Friday date I was given to “lock-in” the move..
I finally heard from the Priceline driver about 5:30PM stating that he was about an hour away .. he called again at 6:30PM to say he was about 15 minutes away… & I headed to the storage unit to meet him at the gate. The Priceline driver finally arrived at 7:00PM; he parked off the road and I drove him to my storage unit - he gave me a name of “Zane”. There had been date switches and multiple times given for furniture pickup over the previous several days..
After opening the unit and Zane taking a look inside the unit, he stated that it did not match the quote and I told him exactly what Josh Richardson had advised me that a complete inventory would be done upon the driver’s arrival and not to worry it would be straighten out at the point of pickup. Whereupon, Zane stated he would have to call his supervisor. I also saw that when looking at a 10x25x10 unit, Zane had written on his paper tablet 4000 cf - way off from the actual 2500 cf. Zane called his supervisor and let me know that the move cost would be $11,500 not the $2,500 I had been quoted. I let him know that there was no way I was paying that… he then again called his supervisor and came back with an amount of $9,500 and I said NO. He immediately gave a dollar amount of $7,500. I said NO and some more haggling ensued and then Zane gave me dollar amounts of $5000 and then $4000 which felt like to me “baiting”. He then asked me for a number and I stated $3,000. He called his supervisor again and came back with the lowest they would go was $7,500. I re-stated the obvious, that $7,500 was way off the number I had been quoted; and then Zane let me know that Priceline would not do the move job and I drove him back to the tractor trailer and left to return to the hotel. (I had previously paid $2000 to move the same furniture up to SC from Safety Harbor, FL )
I am of the opinion and can only conclude that, Priceline never intended to perform on P792114 for $2,505.17, and that upon the driver’s arrival, that Priceline would, and in fact did, estimate the move quote at $11,500. The customer is then placed in the position of having to accept the re-quote. At this point, one is so thoroughly exasperated after spending additional money and time waiting on Priceline to even show up; I am sure most customers are willing to re-negotiate for a higher move cost. Again, I am of the opinion and can only conclude that this was an intended deception from the beginning.and is a practice of Priceline to pressure and coerce a customer to extract more money for their move..
