Prestige Bathtub Refinishing Reviews
First off, let me tell you that this company subcontracts the work in different states. In my case, I booked with Lynette via email at a company name of "a bathtub refinishing" in Columbia SC. The contractor came out and did the work, I was not 100% satisfied with the work, and emailed Lynette the day after work was completed. She never replied to my email and I didn't follow up. (BIG MISTAKE) I remember when I spoke with her on the phone, I was told that I have a warranty for any peeling, repairs etc. She made it sound like it would be no big deal and even upgraded my warranty from 5years - 10 years. I never received an actual warranty. I just received a copy of "do's and don't". Later I was told this doubles as the warranty....
Work on 2 units were done in May 2017. I clean with non abrasive cleaning products, and follow directions on "do's and don't" paper received, I even purchased a shower rack as suggested.
Dec '17 I started noticing peeling in Master Bathroom, my biggest mistake was not calling these people the SECOND I noticed the first peel. 2 months passed and the peeling started to be really bad, it clogged my shower. I called the numbers given and it went to voicemail. I don't remember if I left a message at that time. Peeling became unbearable and I decided to use 320 sandpaper to sand the areas where the peeling is, my daughter kept putting the paint peel in her mouth, so I knew I had to do something.
2 weeks ago, I google the company name and they now redirect to prestige bathtub refinishing with a different phone number. I spoke to Crystal. She said to contact the contractor Pete Otis Horne. I called Pete Otis Horne, his number was disconnected. I received his wife's number and called her. She took a message and said that Pete would call me back. After not hearing back from him for a week, I called again. No answer, went to voicemail. I did not leave a message.
After calling the company again, they now say my warranty is voided bc I sanded the 1 unit, and I didn't call them to report the issue in a "timely" manner. I said I accept them not fixing the master, but my second unit needs repair too, and they won't repair this unit, again because I didn't notify them in a timely manner.
Their "warranty" does not have any clause about what procedure to follow once you see peeling. What timeline to follow. Their wording is very vague and they use that to their advantage when you contact them. I am sure even if I contacted this company 5 days after noticing peeling, they would have tried to find fault in me, and not honor their warranty. The warranty is a scam, their procedure is a scam. Do not fall for this. Your shower will not look new, I have pictures from the day after this was done, it had scuff marks on, bubbles in the paint etc.
They are conveniently structured where the company subcontracts out, so they don't carry any blame. I would stay away from doing business with them.
