I was excessively overcharged for a new garage door opener from Precision Door Service of Las Vegas. I ended up paying $2,538.85 for a Liftmaster 84501 Garage Door Opener with installation, something which they received from Liftmaster for between $150-$200 (Liftmaster:800-528-5880). I had called them to fix a short circuit in my original garage door opener. When they said they wouldn't be able to find a short circuit if there was one without even looking at the opener, I was desperate to ensure my home was secure again since the technician said I would need a working garage door opener to secure the garage door. Had I known beforehand that the technician couldn't repair the opener like the company said they could when I called, I would have checked other companies. I wasn't prepared to have the opener replaced and had no idea of what a reasonale price was for a new opener to be installed. Foolishly, because I was concerned about my home security & had no idea of average cost of a new garage opener installation, I had them install one having no idea a company would take advantage of me like they did with unethical price gouging. I don't want anyone else taken advantage of like I was. I tried to discuss the overcharge situation with Neil in the Las Vegas office (702-386-0106) thinking it was some type of mistake but he said that was the price and couldn't do anything. Please use a different Liftmaster dealer who won't rip you off if you need a garage door opener replaced. Precision Door Service of Las Vegas excessively overcharges and rips off their customers. Please beware of Precision door service and their unethical price gouging tactics!
I was desperate as I had backed into my door and it was hanging off track. I do not dispute the emergency repair charge of $250, but he quoted $4,200 to replace the door and track and asked for a 50% deposit. I gave him my credit card, but called to put it on hold within 2 hours as my insurance company needed two quotes.
They said they could not refund my deposit as they had already ordered the door. I told them I was sitting there when he called them and was told "no problem, we have it in stock". I got the second estimate and had a new door installed for $2,000 total.
The original incident occurred on Friday afternoon and in writing to put on hold. I called them Monday morning at 08:20 to cancel and they still will not give me my money back. I am a senior citizen living on social security. I clearly must have looked like a target to them.
