In 2014 I put a deposit on a mare through Johanna and drove to pick her up after the transportation company fell through. I am so grateful I did because immediately upon arriving and being able to take a closer look at the mare I noticed very poor confirmation in the legs while standing in cross ties. I decided to watch her run on a lunge line and both a knowledgeable horse friend and I pointed out a hitch in her stride. This was a huge concern as her potential for lameness down the road would be great and there was no way I would breed a horse with poor confirmation. I confronted Johanna regarding this concern and she immediately was in denial and defensive telling me she just needed to be trimmed and that she was sound. I agreed that she appeared sound at the time but was not a horse that I was willing to take a chance on. Her advertisement was false. The mare had terrible confirmation in the legs and upon further inspection; I was able to see the stallion she had been continually breeding had the same turned out leg and deformity. Long story short, Johanna kept $500 of my hard earned money and I got out of the deceitful deal. I would recommend inspecting any animal purchased and never purchase or put a deposit on something sight unseen.
