This is quite possibly the worst company I have ever dealt with for online or other purchases. I should have suspected something was awry when I called and the message machine and had someone who used slang and improper English for their business phone message call center or whatever they call it. As stated in other reports I also spoke to a Bruce, and a huge jerk, who claim he was the manager, named Lloyd. These people initially sell products online then call to "verify" your order. The problem is they are not verifying anything they are looking to upsell you on additional or different, more expensive items. They told me they were going to keep all the accessories because all I wanted was the camera body. But after I check what I paid for and purchased was the entire package and they tried to keep the rest and resell it to someone else for a profit. They are a worthless company, don't think you are saving a dime.
I actually got the same camera after everything was all said and done for $40 cheaper from Amazon, but now I have to file a dispute with My CC Company because these jerks said they won't refund me until UPS pays them for the package UPS lost. The process was a joke every time I called they told me the package was shipped and that UPS had lost track of it but they wouldn't send another camera until UPS refunded them. Basically after dealing with this ridiculous crap for almost a month I called Lloyd the so called manager to refund me and he said he would refund me, yeah right.... I told him; don't bother that I was going to dispute the charge and file a report against his company for unethical business practices. Moral of the story, if it is too good to be true than don't buy from this company, they are immoral jerks and will speak to you like you are a moron in very thick Brooklyn accents. SCAM ARTIST!!!!!!!!!
I searched for the the best price for a Nikon camera. I found PowerShotDigital had it and I authorized $189. Fortunately, I can view my credit card charges online. I thought it interesting an email confirmation did not come from this company. They had charged me $268 and the company name on the charge was different. No explanation how they reached a total. I called. A very abrupt man said you ordered a camera an SD Card and battery. I told him, no I did not. He said, send back what you don't want when it arrives and we'll credit you. On arrival, the statement interestingly does not show how they arrive at $268. It shows the camera for $189 and the remaining added items with prices of '0' and a total $268. And if you read the fine print, if you refuse delivery (which I considered), they have a steep fee plus if you return there is a restocking fee. In other words, lots of fees to make them money after they rip you off. There's no telling if the camera is new but it appears so. I don't like this kind of predatory activity so I am sending my findings to the New York state attorney generals office plus filing a complaint with the BBB. Beware of this company. I also filed a complaint with the fraud department of my credit card who were interested in flagging this company.
I ordered a Fujifilm FinePix XP80 camera. The camera came and was fine but, the invoice did not have a breakdown of the costs. I was charged more that I thought I would be. When I called to ask about it, the man I talked to was very bothered and somewhat rude. He kept saying I was not listening. I wanted to ask questions about each part of what he was telling me. The questions I had were why did the invoice not have a break down of individual costs, why was I charged for the battery charger when it is in the camera already and why was I charged for handling and insurance when it was on the internet as free shipping. I feel I would have done better going to Costco. It would have been about the same price and this years model XP90 not last years.I should have looked on the internet for reviews of PowerShotDigital before I bought it. Soo lesson learned.
I just saved $349. I am so grateful for that and hope i can do the same for someone else who is about to lose money they can't really afford to lose. Once i made up my mind regarding the make and model of the camera i wanted to buy, i naturally searched for the lowest price on line. That brought me to a website called "powershotdigital.com". I was thrilled to be getting this camera for close to $100 less than anywhere else. That should have been my first red flag.
The second being the fact that i wasn't going to be charged tax or shipping. I went ahead and ordered it last night. The third red flag came in the form of an e-mail from someone named gerry, who was contacting me about my order, giving me the phone number 229-299-8999 and telling me i needed to confirm my order and should use extension 1 as that is his extension and he is the one handling my order. This person also received a call from 347-821-4685 the next day and spoke to someone named bruce, who was trying to get this person to upgrade their order.
This person was wise enough to cancel the order after doing some checking. I called that number myself and then called the number from the e-mail i received and both calls had the same recorded greeting. That was my fourth and final red flag. Apparently "digitalpros.com" is now doing business as "powershot digital.com". I immediately called the bank after making sure the charge had not gone through yet, and told them not to put the charge through. Of course in order to do that, i had to order a new debit card and won't be able to use it until it arrives in the mail. Small price to pay. Bottom line is, by not putting my order through until they had a chance to get me to "upgrade" it, these greedy people gave me the time and the information i needed to find out just how illigitimate their company is, which led me to cancel the order. They weren't satisfied with getting my $349, they wanted more, now they have nothing.
They almost got me too on a Labor Day special, by the following day i found some on-line scam reports like this one (and several other red flags) and cancelled my card before charges were applied. Like another person said they tried to sell me a battery & charger separate. When i finally received the camera from another source (Amazon) it says right in the manual to check for included battery & charger. Today i noticed their website is down so i suppose they'll re-surface under a different name. Regardless of where they claim to be located, the person answering their phone has a thick Brooklyn accent, which was one of the locations somebody else mentioned. I'm also trying to find the best way to file a legal complaint, though they haven't actually broken any laws (concerning me) it was a close call and it would be satisfying to bring some grief down on them. -Joe from Pittsburgh PA
