I own my own small bail bonds business, and Powerpay was my credit card processor for the past 9 years. Out of the blue, they terminated my contract - VIA EMAIL - because of "excessive risk" and "ACH rejects."
I have emailed Zachary Yohman (one of their 'risk analysts') THREE times with absolutely no response whatsoever.
THIS is how they treat a LONG time customer with absolutely NO CHARGEBACKS whatsover?
Excessive risk? How can there be any excessive risk when I've never had even a one-cent chargeback?
As far as ACH rejects go, there was one years ago, when my merchant account was frozen by my bank, but it was resolved within an hour.
There was one last year that was actually POWERPAY'S fault. I changed banks, and provided all documentation that PP required to switch my merchant account. I confirmed the account change with them, and everything was A-OK.
The next month, for some strange reason, they attempted to debit my OLD account, which was of course, closed.
There was a third (in 9 years) ACH snafu for less than TEN dollars last month, that also was not of my doing. Our account is with a credit union, where the account number is the same for all accounts but use different extensions.
The ten dollars was always there, it's just that my bank attempted to debit the wrong account extension. I had it cleared up with representative Kathryn Parenteau in less than an hour.
Next thing I know, I'm terminated.
If this is how they treat a customer of NINE years, who has an A+ rating with the BBB, imagine how they'll treat YOU.
OH and they are withholding all of my money from the past month, which I desperately need to keep us afloat. Had to take out a loan to keep things running.
I went with Square Register. Cheaper, easier, and no monthly fee. I highly recommend them. You can charge directly from your smart phone.
Powerpay is a dinosaur that will hopefully be extinct soon. With the way they treated me, their longtime customer, it can't come a moment too soon.
