On May 7, 2019 I ordered a Power Airfryer Oven online from Tristar Products Inc using my business ATM card. Truistar charged my ATM card account for two separate units, tough I only ordered one. When I called and asked about why they had charged me twice, a woman replied one was to test the account to see if it was a valid account ( single $1 charge would normally be done by a regular business). The woman also replied that the money would be refunded in a few days after the product was shipped.
I spoke to the bank where the account is and they informed me that there was nothing they could do unless the company did not refund the excess charge. Then I clould file a dispute.
Charges made on a credit or debit card account are taken from the user's account immediately (they usually show as pending) and are typiclly posted to the party receiving the funds in only a few minutes. When a company like Tristar charges twice like this, it provides them with a free loan for a few days. Because they are dealing with thousands of buyers weekly, they are getting several hundred thousands of dollars each week as a free loan.
It is someting the FTC should look into and do something about. It hurts other legitimate businesses who act honestly and don't bill twice to get a loan.
It should also be a bank policy to prevent double charges without getting the buyer to agree to the second charge from the same business for the same amount on the same day.
I ordered the power air fryer around the 15th of Jan 2017. Accidently ordered a large one and the smaller one. When the small one was delivered, I returned it, along with a note to cancel that part of the order. Then I check the status of my return, and they turned around and shipped another one a month later. When it arrived a 2nd time, I again returned it. It was received at their warehouse on the 21st of MARCH. In the meantime, the larger one arrived, but it was defective, so I returned it. They refunded the $1 trial offer payment. In the meantime, the smaller one that was returned a 2nd time is still not showing as being returned. I told the man I was speaking to to check the tracking number and he'd see it had been received on the 2st of March. That call was made to them on the 12th of April. Then they turned around and took the final payment from my debit card on the 15th of April. Long story short, I have spoken with at least t 5 so called supervisors and each told me I'd receive my refund within 3 to 7 business days,via my paypal account. I've waited 2 more weeks and called them again and was told that paypal refused the money! Now saying they will mail me a check, but they only mail on Fridays. Today is the 7th of May 2017 and still no refund.
On January 5, 2017 I seen an advertisement for the Powerair Fryer. They were offering a Free trial for 30days to see if you liked the product and wanted to keep it, if not you could return for a refund. Everything on their site was good reviews. I was filling out the info to get it and changed my mind so I exited out.
Well it went ahead and took my information and sent it and signed me up for the power fryer. I called the next day trying to cancel it and they would not let me. Said it had already been shipped and I would receive it in a couple days. A week later I still had not received. So I called and they gave me the shipping info. I looked and apparently the item had been lost by UPS. So I called UPS and told them. They did a claim and said they would take it up with the powerair fryer people.
I waited another week and called Powerfryer again.. Told them ups told me a claim was done and I needed to talk to them. The Fryer people told me that it was lost and they would issue a new order. I said I was not interested BUT they said well we can not cancel the order even though it was lost and I did not want another. Told me it would be reshipped. I told them I was under the 30 day trial if I didnt like it I could send it back and I would not be charged. They said until you receive it that will not be a problem. So I called this week because they told me I wouold have it by Wednesday. Again no machine. I told them I did not receive the machine and I had been waiting since 1/4. They told me well we will ship it again and you will get it Can you guess yes Wenesday. I told them I did not want to deal with them anymore that i just wanted to cancel the order and for them to refund me since they already held money out of my account. Was told again I could not cancel. That it was shipped and gave me a tracking number again..
I inputted the tracking number and it said a label was created 2 days ago but had not been marked shipped. I have emailed called and messaged and can not get anywhere with this company. I just want my money back and for them to cancel the order.
