Former Agents and Customers of Platinum Supplemental Insurance have accused the company of defrauding them and others out of commisision and premium payments. The potential Class Action Lawsuit alleges Platinum agents deceived customers into purchasing replacement policies for supplemental insurance to avoid having to return premiums paid.
The lawsuit alleges Platinum and agents knowingly provided false information or "acted with reckless disregard for its truth," and intended to decieve customers to induce them to cancel exsisting policies. They allegedly purposely misrepresented the cost and benefits under the new policy, including failing to inform customers they would lose their "return of premium."
Another potential Class Action Lawsuit alleges Platinum agents used "misrepresentations they knew to be false" to convince customers to replace their policies. It claims Platinum also discontinued commission payments to agents for policies they sold that would have been renewed had they not been replaced by new policies sold by other agents. This suit is requisting to be filed on behald of all former Platinum agents who received "reduced or erroneous commissions."
