I traded my car in for $2000 on New years eve and was expected to have insurance at the end of the day on the first. The insurance agency was obviously not open on the first and the dealer was not clear that it was an immediate action that I needed to do at the time of trade in. I contacted the dealership and notified them that I could not get the insurance right away and that it would be done the following week along with my first payment. Few days later they came to my job to repo. But since I live on the reservation they had to have police at the time of repo and notify me. I then told them that since the weather was so bad and the car could not make it anywhere in the snow and ice I was not driving the car and it was parked.
So Dave the guy who came to repo wanted to take a picture of the miles and just said his "boss" was getting on him about the insurance and shook my hand and that was it they did not repo at that time. He did not specifically say not to drive the car AT ALL and even if he did how can someone say not to drive the car that's in YOUR name. A few hours go by and I got home from work with 2 sick kids that needed to be taken to the ER. The ER I went to was a 15-20 minute drive and they followed me from home all the way to the ER. Within that time of being at the ER I was texting the dealer I had initially dealt with saying if they were trying to repo that soon that I did not want to do business with them and that I wanted my car that I traded in and I will give them the car back.
He told me that they had already taken the car while I was still in the ER with my kids. I was stranded 15-20 min away from home with my sick kids. If they were going to repo they should've done so at the time when the police was present they should have not harrassed me by watching my house waiting for me to leave and following me to the ER. Now I have no transportation because they said they sold the car that I traded in and they will not give me any money for what they took my for a trade in which was the $2000.

Here’s the scoop about the 2010 Charger he has listed, I purchased this vehicle 1/5/2018 and it was illegally "repo’d” 1/6/2018 - less than 24 hours after purchasing the vehicle. Platinum Automotive LLC, Dave Rensink and company ... have unlawfully taken $2600 of my hard earned money - claimed I "voided the contract” upon having the Charger less than 24 hours and not getting insurance by no later than 6pm on a Saturday - which is not a business day - and my agent does not do business on a weekend! I have proof that I DID call my insurance agent to get insurance for the car at 8:30 pm FRIDAY night when I got home from picking up the car from Sioux Falls, SD and they were closed and didn’t reopen until Monday.
Dave requested insurance information friday night and due by 6pm Saturday - which I provided proof of and was UNAWARE my current policy had lapsed due to my mail not being forwarded from moving to Sioux City from South Sioux. The following day I got home from working two doubles and got a text message reading: "Your car has been repossessed due to lack of insurance. The insurance you sent me was canceled a month now, you had until 6 p.m. today and I've got nothing so balance is do in full”. To my surprise my car was gone - taken without warning or without Dave letting me know my current policy had in fact been cancelled and allowing me to resolve the insurance issue immediately. He’s now stating that balance is "due in full” or I forfeit my $600 cash and my $1000 iPad Pro and $1000 iMacbook Pro... and refuses to return my property. He was given these items to hold onto until the next three payments for the down payment were made of $450 every two weeks until the middle of February - I have called numerous time Monday morning 1/8/2018 and sent a several texts asking for someone to please contact me... They text replied calling me a liar that I only called once ... I screen shot proof I had in fact made no less than four calls; I don’t appreciate being called a liar. I finally spoke to Dave Monday morning and offered to pay the insurance as per our agreement and apologized for the oversight on my part. He has called me a liar numerous times and hung up on me numerous times and says I’m trying to rip him off by pulling one over on him. In good faith, I left over $2000 in computers including my 13 inch iPad Pro, accessories with Apple Pencil and a MacBook Pro with him to hold until the down payment was finished paid and which are imperative to my profession ... he is now claiming that because I voided the "agreement” he’s entitled to keep all of my computers, and the $600 cash I paid up front... all for a vehicle that was in my possession for less than 24 hours. Upon review, I’ve realized the contract has been tampered with and changed from what was originally agreed upon. All of the purchase paperwork was in the Charger when they took it, along with all my personal belongings and life saving medications and service dog vest (as I’m disabled) which they refused to return. I had to call the Sioux Falls Police to get back a few of my belongings including the tampered contract - he refused to return any of my electronics nor was the $600 cash he took from me returned. Platinum Automotive LLC and Dave Rensink practices unfair, unethical and extremely SHADY business practices and he rips hard working people off from their hard earned money. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS PLACE. Their business is a complete sham and a joke. Stay FAR FAR away from this ripoff con artist! I ALSO HAVE PROOF THAT HE POST THE SAME VEHICLE FOR DIFFERENT SALES PRICES WHICH IS DECEITFUL AND SHADY!!!
