We started in Tomah wi. We wanted to get into hotshot trucking. We sold everything we owned, and bought a truck(a one ton dually,suitable for hauling) and an RV,(to live in) and moved to South Carolina, myself, my fiance,my 15 year old son and 2 dogs. Due to our inexperience, we decided to get hired on with a company that was established, finally after a month or so of becoming SC residents and getting my 15 year old established with on line schooling, a company contacted us and wanted to hire us in, but we needed a trailer, so at our expense, we got a junker trailer from a friend, who said if we fix it up, we can use it. So after replacing the Axel's,and the deck, and painting it ,we had a good useable trailer, next, she needed 320.00 to run a DQ file on us, (a nationwide driver qualification form) that we would carry with us in our truck, so we paid her the money, a week later, when it was supposed to be done, we asked her for our copy, she sent my fiance a copy of a SC Mvr, and still no dq file, she kept telling us,that once she got the insurance forms, she would send it all at one time, she said she had a hard time getting us insured, because of our inexperience, so she strung us along for over a month.
Then she called and said she found someone to insure us, that we needed to send our down payment, which was 2000.00, she told us as soon as we sent that,and she could get the insurance company.paid, she would have our paperwork sent to us, and she would have loads waiting, and we would be making money. So we sent her the 2000.00 (which about emptied our bank account).
Day after day went by, and we called and asked what was going on, she kept saying she sent everything, didn't we get it? Suddenly our email no longer worked, hmm, so we gave her a fax number, again she said she sent it, nothing ever came. Mean while no loads, no more money, we went on hotshot trucking site to get some advice, or to ask if this was normal, a couple who owned there own company gave us some sites to look this company up, and come to find out they were not legal to haul loads in the united states,or anywhere. OMG we've been scammed, with no money left, we tried to confront her, she called us every name in the book , said she was going to sue us, and she would not give us our money back, she said oh well, cry babies get over it, lucky enough we have receipts and at least 500 emails and txt messages proving everything, but no money to hire a lawyer, we can't go home to Wisconsin right now because it's to cold yet for our rv. I am reporting this, so no one else gets there dreams shattered and there bank account emptied, I know it's not alot of money, but it was all we had. With getting the trailer built, and inspections and equipment bought, and all legal stuff we calculated 12,000.00 total.
