Beware potential customers of Pintail Demolition & Construction

5829 W Sam Houston Pkwy N Ste 809, Houston, TX 77041

We hired Pintail Demolition & Construction for demolition, mold remediation, as well as remodeling after finding mold in our kitchen. We found them online. The mold remediation took about two weeks and seemed fine. At the start of the rebuild things took a turn for the worse. The night they began new cabinet frames someone on the crew failed to turn off the water or cap it off properly.

At about 10:00 pm water spewed with force from the pipe that supplies water to the kitchen sink, covering my entire kitchen area floor with water in minutes, as well as some getting out into our living area and onto our hardwood floors. Had I not been awake at the time this happened the water would have flooded the whole ground floor of my house. It would have been eight hours of gushing water until someone in the family awoke and noticed what had happened.

The next day they had to tear out the newly built, yet now water damaged cabinets and start anew. After rebuilding the new cabinet frame the electrical outlets under the sink that the garbage disposal and dishwasher plug into were set so far back into the frame that they barely fit and would randomly unplug themselves due to vibrations. They needed to replace a kitchen tile and broke three of my four remaining ones.

They chipped the fourth one, but it was serviceable, so we went with it because we had no more tile to use. Next came the granite install. The largest piece around the sink area was split in an awkward place and they pieced it together trying to pass it off on us. We said no and they had to go get another piece and do the work properly. Other granite pieces didn't match up through the whole process, and the seams where the granite was glued together looked shoddy and vey unprofessional.

We complained about this and were told once they started to sand down the granite to make it smooth this would go away. It did not. We reached out to the owners' multiple times. We did talk to an owner, and he assured us they would finish. After multiple tries with granite installation, we just finally dealt with the subpar quality as we wanted them out of our house. After completion, I noticed they didn’t seal an exterior window or along the floor and cabinet bottom. I took care of it myself.

Several months later we noticed condensation on the underside of the sink in the newly rebuilt kitchen area and notified the owner. This condensation was not occurring before our remediation, this was a brand-new issue. He sent a crew out and they resealed where I had sealed the kitchen window, as well as inspected under the sink. We were told that the problem was the garbage disposal not being attached properly and that it was fixed.

This did not solve the problem and we kept getting moisture under the sink. As it started to warm up, we noticed a moldy smell coming from under the sink area. As it turns out, we had new mold. We notified the owner that an air test confirmed mold and that we were going to have to remove portions of the cabinet to test further and he responded, "Keep me informed." Given our previous experience we did not feel Pintail was capable of helping us with the additional problem created by their team. This was all going on through the Covid-19 Pandemic. We were finally able to start demolition and mold remediation with a company called Restoration One the first week of April of 2021, and finally completed the rebuild June 27th, 2021.

We tried to work with Pintail, but they were not interested in coming to any sort of settlement regarding the additional money we had to spend out of our pocket to fix their mistakes, and they only offered us an apology. We felt completely cheated by Pintail, so we decided to contact the Better Business Bureau. Only after contacting the BBB did Pintail decide to offer us something small restitution wise, however with what we had to go through we felt it too little, too late. It is more important for us to warn potential future customers of the massive issues we had by using Pintail, than to take a very minimal amount of money for reimbursement.

We feel cheated by this company. We do not want another family to experience what we did. Please don't make the same mistake my family did by using Pintail Demolition & Construction.
