1 month ago I received a threatening call from "Online Information Services" asking if I wanted to pay my bill right then. The collector didn't even identify who he worked for until I asked several times. He told me the name Physicians Diagnostic Imaging and I didn't even know where he was referring to. I haven't received any bills from St Francis so I thought it was a mix-up with my insurance company who I called right after. Before I received any answers, there appeared a collections account on my credit report. Everytime I speak with the collection agency, I feel like I am speaking to an opposing attorney, and I don't know what to do. I asked that if I pay this will you take this off my credit? - and the response I get is that we will do a courtesy for you...and then he says things quickly in legal language that I have a hard time understanding. When I told him that deny this charge because I have paid everything I have owed for this hospital stay, he says that I need whatever you are saying in writing via postal mail. I get calls and texts to my home and cell phone several times a day.
The collections agency, ONLINE INFORMATION SERVICES, INC, has been known for aggressive pursuits of debt - for which they have been successfully sued through class action lawsuits. It boggles my mind as to why St Francis Hospital would send the debts of patients who even are aware of these debts to wolves at collection agencies who will destroy their and their families lives for years to come.
