I recently recieved a letter from Phillips & Cohen on the death of my daughter. The letter states that they are representing their client and are trying to locate the person that is authorized to pay the outstanding debt. There is no mention as to who this client is and what the outstanding debt is. All there is in the letter is a website, a reference number and a pin number. In the website, they are requesting all information about us, but there is no information about them. All arrangements have been completed legally and her estate is now in probate. As far as I'm concerned this is a classic case of ambulance chasing and I think they are pretty close to the line on grave robbing! Phillips & Cohen need to go through the proper legal channels. Stay away from these slugs!

Family Death too

2-12-19 Rec'd a vague request from this company for an unnamed client that my late wife owes " outstanding bills". They requested all kinds of information which I did not and will not give them unless I know the details of this request. I have for the past two years been taking care of all of my wife's finances and know she only had one single balance of $481.00 which the bank kindly waived a month after her death. I then received notice from a Simms Collection Agency (from the same state (Delaware) for a balance, a small sum of less than $500. They also cited California probate laws; but we all know they purchased this collection from the said bank. This estate will not go into probate since it is all in a trust. I am sure it is a request for the same single balance which means two are trying to collect on on bill? Sues madre! No. and again No.!

Family Death

I too received this vague letter saying my father owes outstanding bills. I too have been paying all of his bills and there is nothing owed. It makes me nervous. I went on the internet and saw there are tons of complaints about this company. I do not trust giving them any information. As far as I know, they do not have my phone number, but if they call me, I will get my lawyer involved to see what is going on. He has a trust as well so get lost.

Scammers!

Do not give them ANY info! They want you to “verify” the date of Birth of your loved one who has passed, Don’t give it to them! They are fishing, they don’t have it and by getting it, they can continue to try to dupe you into paying them for “an unsettled account”. SCAM! Rip up the letter the minute it arrives. Shame on them for preying on ppl in their worst time! Oh, and btw, don’t fall for their sappy/fake condolences! They are pure evil!

More Family death letters

Rec'd a letter today from Phillips & Cohen indicating my husband's estate owed their client money and they needed the name and address of the administrator of the estate. They did not mention the name of their "client" nor did they indicate any balance that was owed. I know for a fact my husband did not owe any one any money. We've never received a bill here nor any attempt to contact us. Where does this so called firm get the nerve to write people during the worst period of their life. I don't know what this world is coming to.
