We hired Paving and Seal Pro for asphalt work at one of our job sites. Courtnay Brooks had tried on other occasions to sell us his services but we were not ready to build-out the facilities to the extent of his proposals. We originally had another contractor that installed our driveways but he failed to build them to TXDOT specifications. The Paving and Seal Pro owner (Courtnay Brooks) came by on several occasions and stated how poorly the work had been completed by the other contractor and that he could fix the driveways such that we not have any problems moving forward.
We were having problems with the other contractor and his ability to fix the driveways. We agreed to pay Paving and Seal Pro for the repairs. Mr.Brooks fixed the problem and demanded immediate payment which we complied with. He got his money within 72 hours.
He stated at the time that if we left the original asphalt base in place and added another layer of asphalt to the driveways that it would mean no more problems and "they would not go anywhere". He was very pleased with his work and stated "if you have any problems let me know and I will fix it".
The entrance driveway developed a hole after only two months of minimal traffic. I asked him to look at the driveway and he said he would. He came by and said he would fix it.
I kept expressing my concerns and the owner, Mr. Brooks, kept saying he wanted to wait for all of our construction to finish and then he would fix the problem. We notified him by email that construction was complete and we desperately needed the driveway fixed before our high volume traffic started. We did not want to shut our driveway down for a day so we wanted to get it done.
Time passed and I called Mr. Brooks to get an update as to his availability to fix the problem. He apologized and said he would get it done that week. My customer had been complaining about it every week so I continued to ask Courtnay Brooks for help. He kept saying "I will get it done...please do not worry about it". I have left him numerous voice mails, emails, and has numerous actual phone conversations asking for help. He always promises relief but never follows thru.
The driveways are now in production with the expected traffic he knew about and they are falling apart. The hole is ten times larger than when he first looked at it. The sides of the driveway look they could fall off at any time. In addition there are cracks developing in the driveway that will hold water and get worse. I pleaded with him to fix the driveways before we opened for business and he said " please do not worry, I will take care of you". Needless to say his warranties are smoke and mirrors.
Mr. Brooks is decietful and the typical snake oil sales person. He is all talk and brags about how great he is and when he gets his money he disappears. His craftsmanship is terrible and he uses substandard materials. Our driveways are completely falling apart after only a couple of months of minimum traffic.
Mr. Brooks and his company are a joke. I wish I had checked the Better Business Bureau before agreeing to deal with him. There are other customers who have experienced the same issues. I'm sure there are many others.
Beware of Courtnay Brooks and his fly by night business. He will promise the world and deliver crap.
