Paul St. Hilaire Paul Hilaire, Paul Saint Hilaire Called on a property that I had listed and wanted to see it. I met him briefly at my office and he showed up in old shorts and flip flops. I arranged for myself and another Realtor to show him the property. He made an offer and presented a check for $10K deposit.
We came to an agreement, opened escrow and the check cleared. He insisted on testing the water & when that came back ok, he then insisted further testing be done for unusual and uncommon contaminants. The water testing company thought the request was strange as most water contains small parts per million of these items and sure enough the test came back positive but negligible.
He used it as an excuse to cancel the offer. I later learned that he had negotiated with an investor that I introduced him to for a separate project out of Santa Barbara who had a lot that he wanted to build a spec home.
I learned that he had set up the escrow to be one of the signors and once the investor had put in $250,000, Paul cancelled the escrow and made off with the check. I know the police were looking for him for quite awhile. He is a con with no money. Beware CA
