Patrick Motorsports Reviews

  • May 9, 2018

I am the second owner of a 1974 porsche 914. My brother was the initial owner and this car was his pride and joy. My brother found patrick motorsports in Arizona. The car was shipped from Ca for a complete rotisserie restore and 3.8 6 cylinder conversion. I have every single receipt for the parts and labor that was charged for the restore. 150;000.00. My brother passed away and I inheried the car. My brother was a great guy but not that mechanicly inclined.

I was the wrench of the family and worked for several racing teams in the past. After all the excessive B.S. and the extra months it took to complete the car. My brother got it back. The first oil change the 30 plus thousand dollar motor had metal shavings in the oil. The excuse was a tight rod bearing. This tells me no clearences were checked on mock up. Did I mention it costs 1100.00 to ship it back everytime,? So the engine was repaired. Then there was a wiring problem. Shipped back again. For how much?

I have to say the car looked beautiful. The painter there is very good. First off a restore should have new wiring and it should be trick. They stuffed the old wiring back in the car and it looks like s**t. Car was returned. Then the bolts for the drivers door turned freely and the door sagged destroying the paint at the bottom of the door snd side panel. My brother was disgusted with the car and it sat in his garage until he died. Then I got the car. I fired it up and put it into gear and the main shifting rod dropped onto the pavement. Also smelled gas.

Found out his bitchen fuel cell ,,,,,(a glorified old tank painted ) was spewing fuel. The car shows 2000 miles on the odometer. Oh did i mention the tach didnt work either? I repaired all that. Then finally thought i could drive it. Lo and behold the tranny has a problem in third gear on there bitchen 915 wevo conversion. Oh checked the throttle body and it would only open a quarter of the way. Also throttle spring was held in by a tie wrap. Pro,s. This car wss done in 2009.

The shift linkage had worn parts and was very sloppy so i reached out and called patrick motorsports and told them what car it was. I asked for two simple parts. A nylon bushing and the shift selector gasket because why? The tranny was leaking. Never heard from them again. I always wondered why they never installed seat belts. My brother had recaro seats put in and wanted simpson safety belts. I went thru the receipts. Not only did he pay for the belts he never got but theres also a labor charge for installing them. The last time my brother got the car back he noticed the car not handleing or accellerating right. Started looking at the car and and they swspped his new parts for older ones in the shop. I cant wait to tear the motor down. If all the aftermarket parts arent in the engine s**t will hit the fan. I know i cant do anything legally but please just save your money. They suck.
