On August 15, 2017, I negotiated the prices for painting my house, pool deck and entryway as well as replace the decking on my dock. I furnished all the materials and he was to provide all labor and tools, etc. As of this writing, 2/27/18, none of the projects are complete. I have finished most of the remaining painting on the house and pool deck.. He has been paid for 95% of the work to complete the job and Is no longer responding to my correspondence. Kept giving me hard luck stories and I kept advancing him money on promises that he would finish the jobs. My advice is to find someone else. If you do hire him, I would recommend withholding the majority if not all of the payments until the job is completed to your satisfaction. Also make sure that the agreement spells out exactly what is to be done and just because he talks about doing minor repairs things during the estimate process don't assume they are in his estimate. If it is not included in writing, he will say that was not included and will charge extra, He was suppose to sand down the splinters left from saw cuts, screw holes etc. to prepare the decking for sealing. I assumed it was part of the decking bid, however he wanted an additional 500.00 labor to sand and seal the deck.
