Partners in Grime of Tampa Reviews

  • Aug 27, 2015

On February 18, 2014, I signed a contact with, ‘Partners In Grime Of Tampa (PIGOT)’ to paint my home. The agreement called for One (1) Coat of Oil based Primer and two (2) coats of an Acrylic Finish Coat. Considering that, Partners In Grime Of Tampa, was going to ‘spray paint’ my home, I asked if this had presented any liability problems from the neighboring homes on other jobs they had done. I was advised by Darin (one of the PIGOT owners) that this had not been a problem in the past.

In summary, in my opinion, the painting of my home was very much disorganized. Several painters starting at different location on the house. When I suggested to the supervisor, he advised that, ‘They would apply the paint that was needed!’ I told him that the ‘contract’ called for a total of 3 coats of paint.

It took a call to the owner to insure that this was done. Even then, as several painters were working simultaneously, I believe that the only one that had any idea of the exact number coats applied to the several areas of the house was unknown by anyone except myself. The exact application of paint coats still remains a complete mystery

After a week, following the completion of the project, I noticed that my car (2012 Toyota Camry) had small paint ‘dots’ covering the rear, top, and primarily the left side of the car ( an over-spray). I called Darin (owner) and advised him of the problem. He came out and saw the problem which we discussed how the over spray could be removed.

I had intentionally kept the car in the garage for the entire period of time the painters were working on the house. I did co several errands at one point. My wife told me later, on one occasion, that one of the painters was on a ladder, at the corner of the house, spray painting the peak of the garage. Obviously, he did not stop spraying as I backed from the garage.

On discussion with Darin (Partners In Grime Of Tampa, part owner), he suggested that he would discuss the situation with his partner. I advised that I would like to remove the paint myself if possible and would investigate the possibilities further. However, following discussions on location at the Toyota Dealership, I felt the removal should be done by professionals.

Toyota advised that an over-spray can easily carry, with very little wind, for approximately 2oo to 300 feet. The Toyota estimate to remove the over-spray was $300.00. I advised Darin of this and offered to split the cost. Darin suggested that he would discuss this with his partner again.

I called The Partners in Grime Of Tampa 3 times with no response from anyone with the company. I have to assume that they are not interested in further discussions or correcting the problem at this time.

On May 11, 2014, while cleaning a small pond in the front of my home, I noted that two of the bronze statues had also been over-sprayed. One is a very large bronze statue with ‘3’ spray nozzles the second is much smaller with a single spray nozzle. Both are mermaids. Additionally, two (2) areas of the house show cracking, pealing as a result of they work.
