We parked in a Park Select lot Water St, Wilminton NC. I parked next to the car next to me, lot was just about empty. Paid at booth to park. Came back, got into our car and drove 50 miles. Stop, when I went to get back in the car, noticed something hot pink under my wind shield.
Opened the envelope to find a 40.00 fine that was issued 8 minutes after we parked. It wasn't a fine for not paying for the parking, it was a scam charge for parking in two spaces? This was a gravel lot with no lines... tried to dispute and they replied there are concrete bumpers are that front of parking spaces that signify a space.
This is a scam..we saw an attendant in the lot, parked, paid using the kiosk. As soon as we left the car, they issued a summons in an empty gravel lot event though we paid for the hour. Stated we would have had to pay for two spaces since I parked over their imaginary parking spaces. This is such a scam... don't go to Wilmington. Do not use any lots that are Park Select, Wilmington- which may be every lot. Just avoid the entire area. Total scam.
here is our dispute: I paid 4.00 to park for an hour and they charge me 44.00 including the fine for one hour of parking in a gravel lot. Rip Off-/Scam/Trap Stay away from Wilmington Park Select- Did not see any bumpers, lot almost empty, did not take two spaces!!
We parked in a lot off Water Street in downtown Wilmington. The ticket was purchased at 4:01 PM. The parking lot was a gravel and cinder dirt parking lot. There were about a half dozen cars in the lot as well. The ticket I received was for Double Parking. First of all since it was a dirt parking lot, there were no lines. There was no way whatsoever that one can determine the size of a parking space.
It was a dirt lot. Second of all there were not many cars there to define the size of a parking space. So there is no way to determine what the size is of a parking space is. There is also no way to determine the location of a parking space since is is a dirt parking lot with no lines. We were visiting Wilmington to do some sight-seeing.
Plus we did not discover the ticket until we had driven about 50 miles or so away since it was tucked under the front hood. Since we were 50 miles away, we could not take a picture of the dirt parking lot. Since there was no way to determine where one should park, there is no way that you should charge me $40 for a ticket in a dirt parking lot.
The response-
We find that this citation is in fact valid. THESE LOTS HAVE BUMPERS PLACED FOR EACH VEHICLE TO PULL UP TO . EACH BUMPER IS IN( FACT) A PARKING SPACE .PARKING BETWEEN BUMPERS IN FACT( TAKES 2 PARKING) SPACES . CONSUMERS MAY CHOOSE TO USE 2 SPACES , BUT MUST PAY FOR 2 SPACES . VEHICLE CLEARLY PARKED BETWEEN 2 BUMPERS
