WENT IN KENNER LOCATION OF FRENCH RIVIERA AND SIGNED UP FOR GYM MEMBERSHIP. A CONTRACT WAS GIVEN TO ME TO REVIEW. ALL OK AND I SIGNED IT.
THEY I WENT TO PERSONAL TRAINER DESK - ADVISED TRAINER I HAVEN'T EXERCISED IN YEARS AND WOULD TRY IT. TRAINER WAS FULLY AWARE OF THIS AND SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME OF THE CONTRACT STIPULATIONS. I SIGNED THE CONTRACT USING A "COMPUTER PAD". NO CONTRACT WAS EVER "GIVEN" TO ME TO REVIEW AS THE GYM CONTRACT WAS. IF I WOULD HAVE RECEIVED A "PRINTED" COPY I WOULD HAVE NOTICED THE CONTRACT STATED 6 MONTHS NOT MONTH-TO-MONTH AS THE GYM CONTRACT. AT THAT TIME I COULD HAVE CANCELLED WITHIN 3 DAYS.
I WAS NEVER GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO REVIEW THE CONTRACT BECAUSE I NEVER GIVEN A PRINTED COPY! THE GYM CONTRACT IS A MONTH-TO-MONTH CHARGE WHICH CAN BE CANCELLED AT ANY TIME, THE PERSONAL TRAINER CONTRACT IS FOR A 6 MONTH TIME WITH NO CANCELLATION. I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF THAT AND AGAIN - WAS NEVER GIVEN A PRINTED CONTRACT TO REVIEW. I WOULD HAVE NOTICED THE $$ FOR 6 MONTHS AND WOULD HAVE CANCELLED THEN.
NOW, I AM HAVING HEALTH PROBLEMS AND HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY MY DOCTOR TO CEASE TRAINING. I HAVE SUBMITTED EVERYTHING THEY HAVE ASKED FOR : 2 DOCTOR'S NOTES STATING PERMANENT CONDITION - CEASE TRAINING - AND THEY STILL WILL NOT CANCEL MY CONTRACT. THEY ARE 'THIEVES' !
I purchased a month to month membership at French Rivearia Spa. After about a year I could no longer afford it. When my payment was returned to Paramonut the company that bills for French Rivearia they called me. I told them to cancel the account, and I'd send them what I owed them, as soon as I could. The next week they attempted to debit my checking account again it bounced. When I called them they said I had to send them an email to cancel. After I sent the email they tried to debit my checking account again. I'm now holding a letter from Paramount stating that the only way my account can be cancelled is if I pay them $187.00. This was month to month no contract. Even though I spoke to them and emailed them they continue to bill me on a monthly basis. This is with out a doubt a form of extortion.
