Plant Safe Labs is a startup cannabis lab that is owned by Ethan Sasz and Steve Kelly; David Valade is the CFO and was appointed to oversee Lab Operations. The three of them also own/manage Paradigm Laboratories, a COVID testing lab also located in Tucson. As the Lab Director, I reported directly to Valade. On more than 3 occasions, employees of Plant Safe were injured while at work and needed medical treatment. David Valade instructed me to give the workers comp information for Paradigm Laboratories to the employees and instructed me to tell them to say they were employees of Paradigm Laboratories. Otherwise, he said, they would have to pay for their own medical treatment. I pushed back each time I was told to do so. I told him this was illegal and they should not be forced to lie. He typically responded with promises to get things "fixed” but never did. Once, he told me that he had looked into getting the proper insurance but it was too expensive for the cannabis lab and since we weren’t making money, it wasn’t something we could afford
