As a physician myself, I feel like I can give a reasonable evaluation of Dr. Harris. We came to him for recommendations regarding the cancer pain my father was experiencing, and in hindsight, he is genuinely the worst doctor I have ever met. When we asked him for recommendations regarding dry mouth and dysphagia my father was experiencing with his fentanyl patch, he claimed that it was because of his antidepressant. Although the antidepressant has antimuscarinic properties which may lead to dry mouth, the fact that hes been taking this drug for 20 years, and was opioid-naiive, with dry mouth one of the most common symptoms of opioid medications, leads me to strongly question his clinical judgment. Moreover, he has refused to increase the dose of fentanyl for my father, despite his rapidly increasing and uncontrolled pain and the current evidence in the literature of a high prevalence of inadequate pain control in cancer patients. He was also behind in his guidelines: When discussing Norco (a combination of an opiate and acetaminophen) dosing for my father, he stated that the daily limit of acetaminophen was 4mg/day when the guidelines have been changed in 2011 to 3mg/day by the FDA due to concerns of liver toxicity in higher doses. See below.(medicaid.nv.gov/Download...) How a pain specialist could be unaware of this is simply shocking and embarrassing. When asked if there are any oral opioid options without acetaminophen, he said "there are none." Ever heard of codeine, hydromorphone, hydrocodone?! Even if he didn't think these were appropriate, he should have at least given educated us accurately. After all of this, we were fed up with him. Do not see Dr. Harris, he is objectively a bad doctor
Worst doctor I've ever came across in my life. matthew harris is Rude, Arrogant and very condescending. I asked to review my latest MRI, he simply read one sentence from the report and told me to get on the table since he didn't have time to talk to me, apparently he couldnt be bothered to explain anything. I should have known not to continue with this doctor as he bad mouthed other doctors I've seen before him for epidural injections. In my first appt with harris when I was alone with home in his office. He claimed he worked with Dr. N.Faramond and DR. Faramond paralyzed a patient so I should not go to him. I should have know Harris was
bad news with unscrupulous business practices. Unfortunately I scheduled a second appt. An epidural injection with this crude and angry "Dr." Because I was in cervical spine pain and harris told me I needed an cervical spine epidural. As soon as he injected the numbing solution he didnt wait even 2 minutes for the numbing solution to work. Instead he immediately injected me with the epidural solution which burned and was extremely PAINFUL. I FELT ALL THE PAIN FROM THE INJECTION AND FLUID. I yelped and cried inpain the whole time. NOT screaming, just crying and made grunt whimpering noises from the excruciating pain . Harris
accused me of being dramatic for attention. Who would fake a pain reaction in an operating setting with no one there? Harris had No compassion whatsoever! Instead matthew harris was annoyed that I was crying and yelled at me to stop being dramatic , then commanded me to stop crying and making noise since Im disturbing other patients. Why not give me some time at least 5 minutes for the pain to dissipate. He actually accused me of " just wanting attention and Im just fine. He then wrote in his case notes that he thinks I have a psychological disorder for crying!" This man is not a psychologist and out of the 7 other injections and
surgeries I've had in 4 years, this has never had this happen. Harris actually had nerve to write that on the medical report so I have evidence of this incident. Obviously one doesnt cry from pain if there is no physical pain. This procedure went horribly due to harris's rough technique and hurried manner, causing me excruciating pain. This "DR" has the Worst bedside manner obvious matthew harris has his own mental/anger issues. He continued to yell at me to stop crying and said you will never be treated here again for disrupting the office with my "overreaction" to pain (NOT that I ever will want go to this SHAM of a doctor). As I was still in
pain I told him if he's going to keep popping his head into the room to yell at me, stay away in the other room. This is unbelievably bad, unprofessional treatment. The receptionist in the front seemed outraged at this behavior and offered to switch doctors for me and gave me her info. Dr. harris needs to have some anger and human decency counseling and further training on how to act in a professional manner. I was forced to see this sham of a doctor because my insurance changed and I no longer have the best quality care under PPO insurance. My insurance only had this horrible group as an option. Id rather pay cash to see a REAL
doctor than come here under my insurance. This is a real review. This happened to me today and I have a duty to warn other patients. I wish I was warned.
