Very unprofessional, the movers had never loaded a POD before and did not have enough people for the move. An additional person was supposed to come but never showed up, another got lost and took a long time to arrive. Left my home a disaster and left a great deal of packing material I had to dispose of. Was told they would come back if I rented a truck and storage unit. They never came back. Packed items I told them more than once not to pack. There was a great deal of room remaining in the POD when they were done, if it had been packed correctly it could have held a lot more items.
Pack & Load movers came to my home and immediately noticed the job was much bigger than they anticipated. They had never come before that date to see what the job entailed and were completely unprepared.
Only 2 men and 1 woman were sent to pack and load the POD. Another mover was supposed to come but never arrived. The movers that did come told me they had never packed a POD before and had no experience with it.
I received a call that the job might take more than was quoted, I was told a maximum amount extra it would cost with the hopes it would be less and I would be notified what the final cost would be. I was never notified until I saw a charge of double the quote on my credit card.
When the movers needed more packing material one of the crew left and got lost and didn't return for quite awhile.
When the POD was filled and less than half of my house was packed, they told me not to worry and that if I rented a truck and storage unit they would return the next day to finish the job. I rented a storage unit and truck the next day but they did not return and my neighbors and son had to move the rest of the house in only a few hours the next evening.
They packed things in the POD I specifically, and more than once, told them not to pack and they left a great deal of packing material behind. There was a great deal of space left in the POD and could have held more items if the movers had been more experienced.
Once I noticed the charge of double what I expected I called customer service and spoke with Jason. He was extremely rude and did not have any concern for finding out the truth, he just told me that they would do a reverse box count when we receive our POD in the future which is at least three months away since we are still looking for a new home.
The lack of organization, communication and customer service as well as leaving my house a complete mess including the enormous amount of packing material for me to dispose of was completely unacceptable and the dishonest double charge at the end was the final straw that prompted me to file this report.
My family and I are very un-happy :( with the service we received from Pack & Load Services. We basically spent all day the following day repacking the POD to get more stuff inside, thus defeating the purpose for which we hired "professional" movers. There were tremendous amounts of gaps (I took pictures) and wasted space inside the POD, and the packers did not put any thought or effort into maximizing the limited amount of space. Additionally there were a myriad of other issues with this service order.
1) We ordered packers to load PODs and was not informed that they charge a large sum of money for each POD. I was lead to believe I was only paying the single POD amount for the day. There was no mention of a "per-POD" charge. Imagine my surprise when I learned the day of the move that I basically had to pay double what I expected.
2) The packers were 1.5h late, unpforessional (swearing in front of my children a few times), completely unprepared and ill-equipped for the job. They had an appliance dolly and a couple pieces of tissue paper... that is it. I had to go and buy them some of the heavy lifting straps so they could lift some of the heavier items. I supplied them with all the blankets and their furniture wrapping skills need a lot of improvement. I basically had to wrap all the furniture myself to protect my wood finishes correctly. They had no tools to disassemble furniture.
A) what I was told and what happened didn't line up well.
B) I was told the packers would disassemble furniture, wrap it, and logically and methodically pack the POD efficiently and securely with proper weight distribution. As per sales "Chris". Chis needs to better understand what his company actually supplies:
C) What I got were packers that disassembled one piece of furniture at my request, after I provided them the tools (and some stupid crack about using a chain saw to disassemble it). I had to wrap all the furniture myself. A poorly loaded POD that I had to re-pack myself. Not weight distributed by any stretch of the imagination. Basically nothing what I was sold.
The salesmanship was far over-promising, and the packing service was very sloppy. I basically lost an entire day of my moving experience because I had to go and re-pack the back end of both PODs; again defeating the purpose of hiring Pack & Load in the first place, and 2 more days because I am having to make an additional 600 mile trip & back again to get one last U-Haul load since the packers were unable to efficiently load everything the first time. I'm very disappointed with this experience and would strongly encourage the general public to never utilize this over-priced, under-delivered service as you will only be meet with high-hopes and extreme disappointment. I can't wait to see how much of my furniture was damaged. We'll find out next week. FYI... I will be unloading the POD myself to avoid any further frustration.
