On August 12th my 2019 vw jetta broke down for the second time because of a faulty clutch. vehicle was taken in to the owen sound location and it was agreed upon by the sales person that the vehicle was most likely a lemon, and i was switched over to an autiomatic vehicle that would be leased. i was given an older rental car and drove the rental 30km home- when I arrived home, the rental would not go into park and it would not go into reverse. I phoned the service department and let them know that the vehicle would not go into park.
Wayne in the service department spoke with me for over 10 minutes and told me to forcefully try and put it into park and it wouldn't go and I didn't want to damage the vehicle. He asked me to please drive the vehicle back to owen sound and that they would take a look at it- the next morning I tried to attempt to bring the vehicle back, and the key broke in the ignition as soon as I tried to turn the car on. I couldn't open the trunk because the vehicle wouldn't go into park. I asked the tow truck driver to please go into the trunk and retrieve my belongings because I had a drs appt, and I couldn't be there at the time of pick up, and to please leave everything at my residence.
Once I arived home, none of my belongings were there. I called down the owen sound VW on multiple occasions asking for my stuff back- my deceased grandmothers family rings were in the car, along with my mail keys and the mats for my vehicle. I was told that I would have to pay for the damage to the rental car or they would not give me my new vehicle. I asked for the chance to view the documents (the supposed work done on the rental a week before that they claimed that they did, as well as a proper estimate before I paid the bill and they refused. The salesman Ryan told me that he would speak to the manager of the service department and try to get a refund for me as he also believed that the damage to the rental was not my fault.
I paid the $1800 so I could get my car back, and then left and was told that someone would be in contact with me. Weeks went by and I wasn't contacted by anyone- I left several messages with different people asking to be contacted- the sales guy tried to say its because I threatened legal action- which I only did once I didn't recieve a call back for weeks. I asked for the report of the work they claimed they did on the rental, but they refused. They also refused to provide me with a proper estimate. They claimed that the work was done on the vehicle, but on saturday Aug 29th, my mother went in to try and get an answer as to where my belongings were. They said the car was dead and that it hasn't been serviced- they refused to go in to the trunk and the owner verbally attacked my mother and step father.
The police were called and even after the owner was told to open the vehicle, he refused. The owner told the police that I could go in monday morning and that they would wait for me to open the trunk and I could get my belongings. I went in this morning like I was told, and was immediately verbally attacked by the owner- he told us to get off his property and that he would be calling the police. I told him I just wanted my things back- and my grandmothers rings were in the car and he proceeded to make fun of my dead grandmother as well as made comments as to what I was wearing- called my friend that accompanied me a "f*cking twerp" and called the police and told the police that we were "dangerous" they at first refused to give me any of my property but then said that they did have my mats.
Ryan retireved my mats from the back, but the owner refused when I asked if I could please look in the vehicle for my grandmothers rings. The owner called us many names, as well he screamed at another customer that was in there that was agreeing with us that he has had issues with him before as well.
