Stay as far away from this company as you can. The sales people will tell you whatever nonsense they need to so that you agree to use them, up to & including "We take credit cards" which after they show up and begin to load your stuff on their truck, they turn around and say they do not, even though both Yelp and THEIR OWN WEBSITE say they accept credit cards. TL;DR? YOU WILL BE MISLED OVER & OVER AGAIN.
Are you looking to be severely underquoted and then when your stuff is on their truck you're told that you are going to need to pay them 3 times the amount you were originally quoted? Oh, they'll offer to take everything off their truck for you...and leave it on the street and charge you, to quote the guy in charge of the crew who showed up at my place on moving day, "as much as we possibly can"? Speaking of payment, they'll tell you that you can either pay 100% cash up front, or 50% cash 50% check up front, or 100% cash when they arrive with your stuff.
If you don't pay, they put your stuff in storage and charge you usurious fees. aka THEY HOLD YOUR STUFF HOSTAGE.
Are you looking for a company that offers to pack your apartment and when they show up to do it, they complain the entire time? Or to be asked incessantly, "Do you REALLY want to take this with you?" i.e. "I don't feel like packing this". They promise professional, experienced packers but it's just three guys who throw your stuff in boxes with little care and NO order. Oh, sure put my stuff from the bedroom in with my kitchen stuff. that makes sense.
Are you looking for a company who promises, before you sign their horrendous and possibly illegal contract, that your belongings will be delivered the next day, and then at the end of the day change that to "oh, well, it could actually be within the next 14 days"?
Are you looking for a company who, when packing your belongings, don't even bother to properly wrap & protect your framed art, instead just shoving it in a box with other stuff?
Are you looking for a company that is legally bound to provide a "Mover's Rights" pamphlet when asked, but when actually asked for it, decline to do say saying A"i only have one and it's in my truck andIi don't want to go downstairs and get it" and B" c'mon it's late i wan;t to go home"?
Are you looking for a company where the foreman who shows up to your house to direct the job refuses to give you his name ? Also, said foreman consistently asks you for money throughout the entire packing and moving process and grows increasingly angry when you don't give him any, despite the fact you were told "we take credit cards"? Oh, and at the end of the day, when he wants you to sign off on the horrid contract they've brought, constantly urges you to sign it, saying things like "why are you reading this?" or "oh, you're reading this now? It's too late". But if you want to take your time and read through this contract which says you know have to pay THREE TIMES what you were told you were going to have to pay, he beings to get aggressive?
Are you looking for a company who promises 100% customer satisfaction, but on the day of the move, once they get wind of trouble, stops answering their phones? Then when talking to the job foreman about it, he said "oh, everyone went home early". At 2pm? On a Tuesday?
Are you looking for a company who doesn't even deliver your items, instead subcontracting it out to another company (which, to be fair, was actually a blessing in disguise. The subcontracted company was WONDERFUL and I WISH I'd used them in the first place). This, by the way, is where one would have to assume the majority of damage and loss reported by other Yelpers (check the grey 56 other reviews that are not currently recommended link at the bottom of the page for similar stories) takes place because Out of State Movers puts your stuff on their truck, then some other company shows up and your stuff gets moved from truck A to truck B (oh so gently and carefully, I'd assume).
Are you looking for a company that, as they pack your apartment, leave copious amounts of trash around and don't even bother trying to clean up?
Look, all I'm saying is, this company is AWFUL. No matter what you're told by the salesman at the start of the process, just know that most, if not all, of what he tells you is a lie or a half-truth. There's a reason national moving companies are $4,000 and this terrible company is $1,700...you truly, truly get what you pay for. And when all's said and done? You'll have ended up paying WAY more with these scammers that you would've with a national chain.
The only way that I can recommend Out of State Movers is if you'd like to have the absolute worst moving experience you could possibly imagine come to fruition right before your very eyes. Then by all means call them up.
Out of State Movers, run by Carlos Rodriguez and aided by Mike Levin are liars, extortionists and thieves. They quoted me a price and after loading truck, AFTER, they then demanded $900 more. When I told them to forget it, they said that they were taking my furniture and ALL my belongings back to NY and I would have to pay for their time, travel and storage. After discussing this loudly they agreed that If I gave them this money that my things would be to my new home in 8 days. It wasnt, when they arrived several days late, it wasnt even the company I hired, they subbed my work out to Express Line Movers who then proceeded to extort me some more. My home in Florida is on a VERY wide sand road as is 65% percent of the neighborhoods in Florida, they first refused to drive on the road then stated if I gave them $75 that they would. Then they stated because my furniture was heavy that they needed to use a dolly,,,, hah? They are a moving company HELLO,, after further discussion they demanded an additioanl $75 for use of dolly. So after that discussion they stated they would move my stuff in, after all what choice did I have when threatened that if I dont pay that they would take my furniture and ALL my belongings back and I would have to pay for all the time, travel and storage, so I was extorted and yes I paid. During the move, I stayed out of their way, bit my tongue as to not cost me anymore.money, then they dropped my Italian Leather couch off my front deck and ripped the leather, when I heard the bang I went around the house where they had lifted the couch back up and they had a moving blanket covering the rip, when asked what the bang was they said they dropped the dolly, I just went to the back of the house again out of their way, when done they had me sign a form saying it was delivered, I signed without counting all my boxes and checking all the furniture, some still had on blankets and bubble wrap. After they left, I started taking off the wraps and blankets and thats when I saw ALL the rips, all the gouges out of my solid wood bedroom set and a HUGE crack in a heirloom marble table top. When I called them back, they, neither Out of State movers or Express line movers would take my call, I have asked via voicemails and called over 20 times and sent over 25 texts and over 20 emails asking for the insurance department and thats how I found out that they have NO insurance and once again I am screwed. They LIED about EVERYTHING,, they Extorted me for money EVERY step of the way and their website is ine big false lie. They even called me "poppy" which is slang for friends not for business, they ripped me off for $2492 at the begining, extorted an additioanl $150 on delivery day and caused about $7500 in unrepairable damage and I still have very valuable and sentimental items missing that I had kept after my wife died about 8 years ago. How can I put a price on that. When I tried to explain all of this, they either laughed at me, told me to go F off, they said that there is nothing I can do. I AM and I FEEL like a complete a*s but when extorted, when lied to, what kind of choice did I have and they knew it, thats extortion. When they wanted my business M. Levin kept saying, dont worry, your stuff is important to us, were a family business, our word is our bond, were good at this, they even went on to say that the complaints filed were from a disgruntled employee that they fired, who was just trying to get.money from them and that he was personally promising a satisfying pickup and delivery. Then he said "dont worry, we are insured" well guess what, they are NOT insured. SO PLEASE,,,, stay away from these guys. I want to sue them both personally and professionally. I understand trying to convince a customer that your business is a good one, but to blatantly lie about cost, insurance, subbing out work, and topping that off with being extorted 3 times is just not right and should not be legal. Once they get your things you will never get them back unless you pay them more and more..... BEWARE,,, what I have written is the Gods Honest truth... I have to now try to find an attorney that will just add up the already sigificant loss I have incurred by them, all my things of value are ruined, severely damaged or missimg, they dont care, they laugh at you once they get you, that was the other thing, when I did question them about the delay, they said "it will get there when it gets there" , thats the kind of service they give you, even laughing at me when I told them that this was unacceptable, They had me and they knew it.. So being out ovet $10,000, missing items and having the costs to replace what I can and accept the losses on what cant be replaced is a large amount to swallow, and they HAVE NO Insurance. . A company like this should be forced to stand up in a legal court of law and they should be put out of business. Rip off extortionists, liars and thieves, thats what they are.. They get away with this because most people cant afford to sue, I sure am going to try and find a way, for sure and they would only take cash,,, now they really have you, no way to stop or dispute anything.
