OtterBox Reviews

This is simple consumer fraud. The packaging says, "Lifetime Warranty." There is an asteris which says to read the warranty. The warranty is inside the packaging and it's clear it's only for 7 years so you can't read that before purchase.

My wife and I bought two waterproof Armor Otterboxes for our new iPhone SEs about 4 years ago. Both were great for 3.5+ years but then her seal around the power button started falling apart. Luckily, she noticed it before she was out in the rain, dropped it in the sink, etc. Mine failed a little after that. The "door" to the power port just came off in my hand when I opened it for a charge. You can still put the door back into the power port but it's probably not waterproof and it looks awful with the part of the case that broke hanging off the side.

I call to enforce the warranty. First, they don't make the Armor anymore and don't have any in stock for people trying to enforce the warranty. They offered us two Preserver cases which are not waterproof or even water-resistent. (To be fair, I had one before and it is a solid case which is great if you drop it and it has a heavy-duty built in screen perserver.) The Preserver is selling on eBay for $10-$12, unopened in a new box. So our $100 investment in phone protection is now worth $20-$24.

To try to deal with this inequitable situation, I asked if I could have a Preserver for an iPhone 11 or 12 (~$25 on eBay) so I could sell them and get $50 back. No, you have to get the case for the particular phone you bought. That would be fine if they actually had any Armor cases (~$25-$30 on eBay) to replace the faulty Armor cases we bought. But, instead, they only have non-waterproof Preserver cases. I feel I have been ripped-off for about $25 or more.

Additionally, they don't make any waterproof cases any longer. I can see why because, to bundle the phone up water tight, it is doubtful the water seals can stand up to ordinary use. They used to make great waterproof cases but they've stopped doing that, I guess, because the warranty costs were too high.

I'd have recommended Otterbox to anybody a few days ago even though are two Armor boxes failed -- but I thought they'd stand behind their product. Given these facts, you are better off with a $10-$15 no-name waterproof case from eBay. The only warranty is that it will test waterproof when you test it after your purchase -- which is good enough for me, given the way Otterbox treats their customers.

The otter box is not what they claim. My grandaughter, Mikayla Chandler dropped her phone and it shattered while encased in an otter box defendcase that claimed to have drop protection and triple protection. She only dropped it about 2 feet in height and it totally shattered.. After calling the company I found out that it has happened to others and all they could say is "it is rare" and they do not cover the phone enclosed., this is not claimed on their packaging so I want otter to pay for her phone for the false advertising. Thanks,

Otter Box is the most unethical and dishonest company to do business with. They dont care about customer loyalty and will not their honor pricing. On Black Friday I bought my children Otter Box Cases through their internet site at otterbox.com I was given a hefty discount of 50% off for Otter Box Defenders for Ipad Air 2, however, I mistakenly thought that I needed cases for Ipad Air so I returned the Ipad Air 2 cases in exchange for Ipad Air cases. When I realized that I had made a huge mistake I called immediately. The cases that I returned had not been refunded they were still in transit, so I requested that they send out new ones and please not refund me. They refused and told me that they would not honor the price that I paid on Black Friday and now had to pay 25% more at this time, which is now the promotion on their website.

I feel that this is extremely unethical. Had I wanted a different product I would understand. But since I wanted the same exact product that I had ordered the first time on Black Friday this is unethical. Especially since I haven't even received a refund credit as of yet!!! The manager made this decision at his discretion and refused to let me speak to anyone else and refused to escalate this situation, so I have no other means of recourse. They are also no longer honoring their lifetime policies.

It is very sad that Otter Box has such a great product, yet feels the need to take advantage of their loyal customers, when they should bend over backwards for the consumer. Otter Box like other major companies has become too cocky which will lead to their demise and they will be replaced. I own a construction company and we order Otter Box Cases on a regular basis for our mobile phones in the field. I am now going to give Griffin a try and highly reccomend that you do the same.

Shame on you OTTER BOX!!!
